great bird sounds, February 5, 2007
This review is from: Tropical Rain Forest 2 (Audio CD)
I bought this CD to keep my blue-headed (crested) Amazon parrot company during the day while I'm at work or while I am doing work at home. She absolutely loves it. She calls back and talks to the birds. She listens actively and clearly enjoys the sounds. This is the most rewarding $3 I've spent in a long time. It makes me really happy to know that she's is entertained when no one is home. I will say though that some of the calls on the CD are loud and this isn't a particularly soothing CD. I wouldn't really enjoy doing my yoga practice to this CD.
I have visited and lived tropical areas before, and I thought that the sounds were very realistic. Naturally, you wouldn't find these sounds all happening at once. They are spliced together smoothly to make the cd have continuous sound. I didn't feel like the rain sounds were entirely authenic during a section of the CD, but they were soothing and enjoyable.

Real Bird Sounds, January 19, 2005
This review is from: Tropical Rain Forest 2 (Audio CD)
Tropical birds do make odd sounds. That is what so great about
tropical rain and bird sounds, the fact that they do not sound
like the backyard birds you hear everyday. Some birds really
do screech, and make crazy sounds. One parrot in your house can
drive you nuts, what would a hundred or a thousand in the trees
be like? However, authentic bird sounds are the reason to get
a bird record and this has them. Many local birds go to the
tropics in the wintertime, so some of them do show up in recordings. The tropical world is a totally different world from
what we in the U.S. are used to, and it is a treat to hear what
such a strange place is like, all the sounds that make it exciting and different.
