Fell in Love with These Characters,
By A Customer
This review is from: Tropical Storm (Paperback)
I had read Melissa's online Xena fan fiction, and was hesitant to venture out into her "uber" stuff, but was hooked on this after a few pages. She has created two very complex, likeable, believable characters, with whom I fell in love. Well thought-out plot, nice action, and a story of growing love that left me feeling giddy, along with the characters. Looking forward to more works by Melissa Good.

I feel like I've found my best friends,
By A Customer
This review is from: Tropical Storm (Paperback)
The adventures of Dar Roberts and Kerry Stuart, set within the corporate structure of EDS (a fictional Information Service Provider, which could be compared to an AOL, or MSN) has all the elements of a good story. There is conflict, both outer, and inner conflict. There is romance...yes lots of romance, and it's potrayal of women in high positions, truly inspired me in my own business life. I was mesmerized by the first paragraph, and could not stop reading for days. Melissa Good, the author, uses her knowledge of the industry, to make situations that our two heroines get into, very credible. I feel like I've found my best friends in these characters, and can't wait for the next two follow-ups to be published.

The best romance ever,
By terri reynolds (Birmingham, West Midlands United Kingdom) - See all my reviews
This review is from: Tropical Storm (Paperback)
I have read Melissa Good's fan fiction stories and throughly enjoyed them but I did have my doubts about Tropical Storm since I read that it was an uber story and I didnt understand what that meant, it made me a little apprehensive. After reading all of her fan fictions and deciding that she was the best author I had read in a long time I took a chance. I read it and re-read it and I thought it was the best romantic story ever written. It grabbed hold of me and wouldn't let go until I had finished the whole story. I read a lot of books and ive been disappionted by how many have been good but havent made me feel, really feel that I was there watching the action and feeling what the characters were feeling, this book did that. I have bought it and if it is possible I will probably wear it out from reading it too much. It made me feel like I wanted to be them, I wanted to be kerry because I could feel how much Dar loves her, and I wanted to be Dar so I could be in love with Kerry as completely as Dar is. This book is definatley the best romance ever, well done Melissa.

Fantastic debut for new author,
This review is from: Tropical Storm (Paperback)
Set in modern-day Miami, this terrific new novel centers on the lives of two strangers whose destinies bring them together amidst the turmoil of a hostile corporate takeover. Wealthy, brilliant and deadly, Dar Roberts has cultivated a well-earned reputation as one of the most efficient corporate raiders in the Information Technologies business. To her bosses she is a formidable weapon to be used in the never-ending struggle for power, control and profit. To the people employed by the companies she assimilates - the executive is a predator - cold and merciless. It is a reputation she is living up to as she prepares to decimate the work force of a recent acquisition. In charge of that work force is Kerry Stuart - a smart, young manager whose life had been going well until the recent turn of events. With dogged determination, Kerry has escaped the pressures of family to make her own way in the world - establishing a career and rising quickly within a small company - only to now have to face the prospect of those efforts being for naught as a disconcertingly beautiful blue-eyed shark strolls into her office. Missy's many strengths as a writer are quickly in evidence throughout the first parts of this story - rich descriptions that engage your every sense - multi-layered characterizations that draw you into the psyche of the characters and a story very much grounded in human emotions, human frailties and strengths along with the raw vulnerabilities that ultimately make us all seek the comfort of another soul. Working in the Information Technologies industry herself and a native Miamian, Missy also imbues the story with a very realistic feel. TS is one of the finest, most engaging stories I've ever read - a fantastic professional debut for a very gifted storyteller. It gets my HIGHEST RECOMMENDATION!!

Great Read,
By Misty Exter (Vancouver, Canada) - See all my reviews
This review is from: Tropical Storm (Paperback)
I've been reading fan fiction for a couple of years now, and have always felt that Missy Good was among the better of them..I had no idea she had anything published though. After I read Tropical Storm online, I decided she better write some sequels or I'd have to pull all my hair out. You can imagine how pleasantly suprised I was when I found out that she IS published, and that THIS particular story of hers is out, because I think this one is her best so far. I've read some of the reviews also, and it seems that even if the reader does not give a great rating, their commentary's lack of praise has more to do with a bad editing and publishing job than anything else. Get another publisher Missy! You're better than that. I reccomend this book to anyone who digs romance, it's impossible to put down.

Must Read!,
This review is from: Tropical Storm (Paperback)
Excellent! There is no word to better describe this book. Melissa Good takes us on a journey through the lives of Dar Roberts, a self proclaimed corporate shark, and Kerry Stuart, her mild mannered protege, who fall for each other in this well-constructed and well written novel. There is something in this book for everyone. As a fan of Melissa Good's writing, I must say that there is something about her work that keeps you coming back. Her writing touches people. It digs deep down into the soul. Just read it, and find that feeling for yourself.

Labor of love,
By JLZ from Maryland, USA (chapinite@aol.com) (Maryland, USA) - See all my reviews

Yes, the two main "characters" were created by someone else. Created by others maybe, but Melissa Good has humanized them....fleshed them out in such a warm, fuzzy way... she gently reminds you that love really is the strongest and most precious force on earth. I for one do not care if the writing is not technically perfect by others standards. It is the storytelling that is important as well as the emotions evoked from characters brought to life by the writer. Melissa is a natural at this as Tropical Storm proves chapter after chapter. Finally, I must mention that Tropical Storm was written by a busy but obviously inspired amateur in their spare time with no commercial expectations. A true labor of love by a very special woman...who is an inspiration in her own right.

Well -written, compelling, and endearing -- read it today!,

This review is from: Tropical Storm (Paperback)
Hardly have I ever read a book that has held my attention twice over! Ms. Good weaves a tale that draws you into these women's lives and captivates you from the very beginning. Where we normally would expect hate and violence, we meet respect, love, and incredibly well-written scenes. One has no choice but to turn the page and follow the road Melissa created for us, just to find out the outcome to the adventure.Constantly reminding us that the story's focus is the relationship between the main characters (by mentioning what they see and feel), Ms. Good shows us that in a dog-eat-dog world, even those who seem aloof and powerful also have hearts and a life... and maybe even someone who loves them. This is a classical love story, where the main characters are able to overcome the odds and find their home and center in each other. It is a story of discovery, growth, forgiveness, and most of all, love. If you believe in the power of love, read "Tropical Storm"; it will make you laugh, cry, and believe in how love changes people's lives.

Once in a life-time soulmate journey...,
By Rose Marie (Harrison, Ohio) - See all my reviews
This review is from: Tropical Storm (Paperback)
For many years my interest in reading anything at all disappeared... until one day, I heard about Melissa Good. Melissa has captured the souls of her characters and given them to us in a most beautifully written romantic story. Her spellbinding chapters of what start out as a corporate take-over, and immediately propulse us into the lives of Dar and Kerry and their once in a life-time soulmate journey. While long ago my fantasies of love and passion, and dreams fulfilled waned, I know now that there is a person, Missy Good, who lets you believe, that dreams really do come true.
