An Inspired Combination, April 24, 2001

Having spent twenty years in and around South Florida, I really appreciate the tropical flavor of steel drum music. At the same time, my past has left me with a love of the rich melodies of the Sunday morning hymns I grew up singing. In Nashville, I took a chance and started arranging some hymns for a tropical sounding rhythm section, and almost immediately the Tropical Sunday sound came to life. You can really hear the passion of the players as they discover the wonder in the tunes. They make each groove into it's own dance. I think that's what I enjoy the most about this album; it invites you to get lost in the spirit of each piece. I'll put it on when I have friends around the house, and before long everybody's smiling.
