5.0 out of 5 stars Hawaiian Food in the Blue Ridge Mountains, July 6, 2006
This review is from: Tropical Taste (Spiral-bound)
Several years ago, I had the good fortune to live on the Hawaiian islands of Oahu, Maui, and Kauai. I've traded the beach and ocean for the Blue Ridge Mountains now, but I remember well the wonderful foods of Hawaii. This book has enabled me to create that distinctive taste right here in the North Carolina mountains. Thank you, Sonia Martinez, for writing this easy-to-read and easy-to-cook-from book.

5.0 out of 5 stars Tropical Taste whets the appetite for Hawaii, July 9, 2006

This review is from: Tropical Taste (Spiral-bound)
My mouth is watering after reading Tropical Taste. It's one of the most informative and enticing books I've every read about the fresh produce and local foods of the Hawaiian islands. From mangoes to guavas, carambola to coconuts, Sonia Martinez educates and entertains about the local fruits, vegetables, and produce, with practical descriptions and historical background. And the recipes, along with the author's tips and suggestions, are reason enough to enjoy this wonderful book! The Pineapple-Macadamia Charlotte is magnificent and easy to prepare; and I can't wait to try the Banana Bread Pudding.
