Product Description

Tropical Traditions Expeller-Pressed Coconut Oil, non-certified, is made from high quality coconuts in the Philippines. This is the "common" type oil that millions of people in Asia consume on a daily basis. It is less expensive than our certified organic Expeller-Pressed Coconut Oil because it does not include the cost of organic certification. We get our Expeller-Pressed Coconut Oil, non-certified, from unpolluted areas of the Philippines where pesticides and fertilizers for coconut palms are virtually unknown. The coconuts typically come from very rural areas in the Philippines, far away from major urban centers. It is also deodorized and processed the "old" way with "physical refining" that DOES NOT use solvent extracts. This is the most economical high-quality coconut oil we sell.

This is perfect for cooking or baking or frying.

I really like this oil for cooking since it doesn't have as strong a taste as virgin coconut oil.

The 5 gallon container is huge, so it will take me a long time to use it up.

We have used this coconut oil for a couple of years, and we see a great reduction in our common colds, flus, etc. I use it in most of our baking and frying in place of liquid oil, butter or shortening. I add a little to our hot cereals to ensure we each eat about 1 teaspoon per day. This is healthy stuff, and it doesn't go rancid. Great for long term storage.

I ordered a 5 gallon pail from Tropical Traditions and they assured me it was the same quality as the organic only in order for people to save money they don't have an organic label on it. I loved it. It kept for over a year at room temperature and it is the best for deep frying any foods as it doesn't break down in the high temperatures. The fried food came out more golden and less greasy than any other oils. This is better for your health because it doesn't breakdown into free radical acids when used at high tempertures. It is the best oil I have even used. Health-wise too.

I love coconut oil. I use it every day for all sorts of different purposes. It is the oil I use almost exclusively for cooking. When I am cooking a dish where the coconut flavor adds to the taste, I use the Tropical Traditions Gold Label. And, when I am cooking and would prefer no coconut flavor, I use this product. It allows me to strike the perfect balance, all the time. I even melt it and use it as a topping for popcorn when I am feeling the need for something 'sinful'. Excellent product.

This is a great product for the price. I paid $160 after shipping. I did the math on about 20 other coconut oils, and after shipping, this was one of the cheaper ones that was branded, and has many certified organic coconut products, so I think the claim they make about this stuff being basically organic from remote regions, just not paying for certification is almost certainly true. I live in an agricultural area of Nebraska, and I personally know small scale farmers (of other crops) who do the same thing, one man operations who can't afford certifications because their profit margin is already so thin, they couldn't afford pesticides even if they wanted to. Coconuts do have pests but from what I read it is so expensive and labor intensive to administer that it's basically not worth it. In commercial agricultural areas if there is a pest outbreak the area is just quarantined. I would be willing to bet money that if generic canned coconut found in a supermarket was tested for pesticides that none could be detectible.

The oil is smooth, the same consistency as pricier coconut oils sold in smaller quantities. It is great to use as a replacement for butter or other unhealthy oils. This oil has no detectable taste but still maintains the beneficial antioxidants and omega 3's. Some sites say that coconut oil with little taste is lower quality because it is more refined. That is not true. It is more filtered. The highest quality most expensive cocoa butter, has no taste also. Of course sometimes in certain dishes you want the taste of the oil to come through. I use coconut oil, olive oil, flax oil, and cocoa butter daily and in a wide variety of dishes so no taste makes it easier to use and more versitile.

After purchasing this oil on Amazon, I received it so quickly it was surprising. The oil is of high quality and has almost no smell of coconut. I like the smell of coconut oil even in cooking, but have found that it can be a bit much if you use it in all your cooking, so it was nice to find this didn't smell. The 5 gallon container is huge, so it will take me a long time to use it up. Luckily it will store great in my cool basement since it is solid at room temp. I'd definitely recommend this oil to anyone.

I really like this oil for cooking since it doesn't have as strong a taste as virgin coconut oil. It more closely resembles butter and is perfect for raw or cooked foods, mayonnaise, toast, pretty much anything in which you would use butter. It does not have as rich a flavor as butter and will not lend the same flavor to things such as grilled onions, alfredo sauce, or other foods where butter is key for the right flavor. I use this oil in my home made sunscreens, lotions, and as make up remover, as well as cooking with it. Wonderful value and I love the Tropical Traditions company.

We have used extra virgin coconut oil for around 2 years now and this exact product for most of that time. Other reviewers are right, this is really no different that the certified organic stuff. It has no coconut taste and works perfect to deep fry stuff. One of the best things we us it with is deep frying chicken wings and man are they good. So it is a bit expensive, but this is heart healthy and a lot cheaper than future heart problems. We have even found that using it on the HCG diet on phase 2 (ultra low calorie) is beneficial. Its like the calories from the oil don't even count. I lose MORE weight when I use the oil. I just wish it was a little easier to make mayonnaise and dressing and stuff. It works but it gets solid in the fridge. Oh well, its still a miracle product. I reuse the oil in the deep fryer for quite a long time. Yes, its a bit pricey to deep fry stuff, but when it comes to health, well its worth it to me. Some stuff we've fried: zucchini, wings, onion rings, french fries, pancakes, funnel cakes and lots more. When combined with sprouted grain flour and our miracle sugar replacement, (I'm not going to advertise it on here, but contact me if you want to know) you can have so much more stuff that is healthy. I just wish there was a way to use it more!
