This is a collection I've returned to again and again for the continued lessons it teaches me. One is the power of observation to reveal and the way Trelles can hide a turn of phrase that captures your breath. Whether it's the image of an island as a boomerang or her cinematic articulation of relationships, "Tropicalia" continues to give through insight and precision.

This book is absolutely beautiful. Ms. Trelles has a fantastic eye, which delivers unique perspectives into her life and the life of those around her. There's a real musicality to her lyricism. I'm happy to have been along for the fun ride that is Tropicalia.
