5.0 out of 5 stars Elegance meets passion
Qué disco! Paquito has delivered again - this time a beautifully crafted, elegant Cuban orchestra sound. Excellent music to keep cheer you up on those chilly Central-European autumn nights, making you wish you were in the Caribbean. Es música tan elegante como caliente.

1.0 out of 5 stars Disappointing D'Rivera's CD
I bought Tropicana Nigthts, expecting to hear a follow up album to the beautiful Portraits of Cuba. No dice.Tropicana sounds like warmth-over,dated cuban music. No imaginative charts, solos or material here.Too Bad. Bert Samuels

5.0 out of 5 stars Latin Grammy Winner 2000, September 20, 2000

It is obvious why this album won this year's Latin Grammy. Paquito is a master musician and I highly recommend this album to those interested in true jazz music.

3.0 out of 5 stars La Cicuta perdio La Sustancia, January 20, 2002

I purchased this CD for 2 deserving danzones: Cicuta Tibia and Sustancia. Paquito's rendition is pitiful compared to the orignal by Enemelio Jimenez with the Ernesto Duarte orchestra. He chooses to play these beatufil solos completely straight and this drains the flavor off these numbers.
