A True Troubadour,
By
This review is from: Troubadour (Audio CD)
I was fortunate enough to catch Robert Hazard recently in a "Coffee House" setting, opening for Eric Anderson. His performance and the quality of his songwriting impressed me a great deal. In spite of past disappointing experiences of buying on impulse at the scene of a good show, (usually the recorded product does not measure up to the "live" experience and gathers dust on the shelf), I bought "Troubadour" that night. Well, this disc has been played over and over since that time, and still sounds great. Hazard's songwriting is in the same league as his influences, Dylan,Eric Anderson, and other veterans of the Greenwich Village folk scene. This is a good one!

I have to say that I was never a big Robet Hazard fan but, Troubadour has become one of my favorate CDs.
Troubadour is sort of in the the classic singwer/songwritter vein like David Wiffen and Eric Andersen and has no "throw away" tracks. I strongly recomend it.

After hearing "Lucky Hat" and "Nobody but the Night" I wanted to find the CD or CDs. I found both on this CD. For me, this is not a CD with just a few good cuts; I like them all. Hazard's songs are stories and they are in different musical styles. Troubador is a perfect title.
I like a variety of music, Dylan, Clapton, Guthrie, Goodman, Cooder, Redbone, Friedman, Beatles, Kinks, Prine, Kristofferson, Bull Dozers, etc. And, of course, Dean Martin. Robert Hazard's Troubador is in my top 3 to listen to right now. Unfortunately, Hazard has passed away.

The minute I heard this album once, I bought extra copies to send as gifts. I've been thanked by those people many times when, in fact, all thanks goes to Robert who left us with his fine collection of work that is powerful enough to keep us uplifted by his talents and flood us with fond memories that, when necessary, can bring us to tears.
Thanks Robert. Beth

I think Troubador is Robert Hazard's best work. I have been a fan of his since the 80's, and saw the crossover from New Wave to his folk music. This a a GREAT album. If you had the chance to see him in recent years in concert, some of the songs are on this , that were not previously released, such as Lucky Hat. I don't want to sound like a commercial, but if you like Robert Hazard, you will love this CD.

Like Dan Colehour, Wade Bowen, and Randy Rogers, Robert Hazard is an underrated artist just waiting to be "found."

RIP Robert.,

Your music lives on. Your early '80s new wave stuff was the least of your accomplishments. It's a wonderful gift that you were able to make this album before you were taken, decades too soon.

After not hearing from Robert Hazard in a long time I was fortunate to hear him on a live performance on a local radio station. Upon hearing him I found out that he would be performing in my neck of the woods a few months after. I purchased tickets and was not disappointed. The new CD and his live performance were excellent - EVERY SONG A WINNER. He no longer is the 'Escalator of Life' guy (not that he was bad), but has moved on to this new sound that is just great. Buy the cd and you'll not be disappointed.
