Artist Video

The Stepkids are three singer/songwriters. “A lot of what excites us about this band is this band itself,” says bassist and keyboardist Dan Edinberg. “It’s not either of us; it’s about creating an entity where the entity itself is what’s important.” As a result, every song on the Stepkids self-titled debut album is written with equal input from each ... Editorial Reviews

Carefully crafting their own brand of modern music by blending classic Jazz, R&B, Funk, '70s Pop/Rock and more with soaring harmonies, The Stepkids have made a name for themselves as one of the most artistically diverse bands today. Praise for their 2011 self-titled debut album and for their multi-sensory live show featuring interactive light art projections, led to tours with an eclectic mix of artists including Kimbra, Mayer Hawthorne & The County, Mates of State and others. While touring non-stop over the last two and a half years, the band has been carefully crafting the collection of songs found on Troubadour, an album shadowing the artists' journey to success. Deftly dancing on the ledge between art and commerce, harmonic skill and raw emotion, The Stepkids are just getting started.

5.0 out of 5 stars Blew My Mind November 13, 2013
Format:Audio CD
I usually don't write reviews & I was surprised that no has written a review on Amazon. These guys are terrific. The first time I heard The Stepkids it brought to mind Manhattan Transfer (The Lottery). Then they reminded me of Steely Dan. Bitter Bug reminds me of Mayer Hawthorne. Then further listening I could hear that they had their own style (Insecure Troubadour). Sweet Salvation is a tribute to George Clinton. Symmetry has influences by David Axelrod. Brutal Honesty has no words but nice harmonies. Then I found out these three guys are a Blue-eyed soul band from Connecticut. It blew my mind. It opens with "Once upon a time in Connecticut" (Memories of Grey). Their music is a fusion of Philly soul, classic funk, jazz-inflected R&B and throw in some rock. This album is at the top of my list as best of the year.

4.0 out of 5 stars this one is good too! February 27, 2014
Format:Audio CD
alot of the songs here soudn like they belong together with the exceptipon of "bitter bug". i like all the songs. "bitter bug" sounds like modern hip hop influenced rock song and how many songs say "cook the eggs and the bacon put the coffee in my cup". only one that i know of: "BITTER BUG". my fave song is "sweet salvation". it sounds like justin timberlake singing back up on the "oooohoooohooohoooohoooohoohoohoohoohoohoooohoo." part. the song has a neat sitar Vs bass guitar solo. this album is much more polisehed that they last album.
