5.0 out of 5 stars This is the real deal.
Since other reviews have highlighted her incredible depth and range, I will only add what I know about Bonnie from a personal standpoint.

I have followed Bonnie's singing career since she dumbfounded the entire audience sitting in a gymnasium at an elementary school 'talent' show.

What was true of that eleven year old waif,is still true today:...

3.0 out of 5 stars wordy
she has a great voice, and the songwriting is pretty good. She's a little wordy for me. her voice sounds a lot like Jewel, but more country. I think future cd's from her will be better. She's very young and should grow into a fine artist.

Since other reviews have highlighted her incredible depth and range, I will only add what I know about Bonnie from a personal standpoint.

I have followed Bonnie's singing career since she dumbfounded the entire audience sitting in a gymnasium at an elementary school 'talent' show.

What was true of that eleven year old waif,is still true today:

- Under 5'1", she is riveting and has complete command of her audience.

- Her writing talent matches her musical abilities. Some of the songs on this album were written at age 13.

- Her songs are personal expressions of her own experiences and she holds absolutely nothing back. Listeners are immediately engaged by the combination of raw emotion and vulnerability in her voice.

- She has universal appeal. Her songs touch on rock, pop, jazz and blues. She is an incredible talent.

5.0 out of 5 stars Confessions of a Teenage Girl, September 29, 2004
This review is from: Trouble (Audio CD)
It's been quite awhile since I've gotten really excited about a new artist. Particularly a female artist; maybe I'm just picky, but too many of the younger emerging artists these days seem to be awfully similar, and frankly I like something with a little bit of edge, a little uniqueness. With my first listen, I could tell that Bonnie McKee was something different, someone whose music would be worth getting excited about. Now that her debut album Trouble has (finally!) been released, I am definitely glad I gave her music a chance, as I was in no way disappointed.

With fiery red hair and an attitude to match, Bonnie McKee has a style all her own, and that really shows through in her music. First of all, her voice is unique, both powerful and beautiful at the same time. What really floors me about this album, however, is that every track was written by her. That makes this CD a real emotional journey. There's the beautiful ballad "Somebody" (the song that got me hooked on Bonnie's music), the almost-naughty "January" about loving a much older man, the uplifting "When It All Comes Down", the gonna-make-it anthem "A Voice That Carries", the 'I loved you but I've learned better' "Open Your Eyes", which is my personal favorite...though to be honest, there isn't a track on this CD I don't love. Being the same age as Bonnie (19), I can really relate to so many of her lyrics. She has an amazing way of saying a lot of the things I've felt myself in the past few years. I have to give her a lot of credit for being so open with her emotions in her songwriting, as it really shows in her songs. I also have to laugh, as she writes in the album's thank yous: "And finally, thanks to all the mean boys who broke my poor little heart and made these songs possible." I think it shows that, while she may have been through some pretty rough times, as we all have, she still keeps her sense of humor through it all, which is an admirable quality.

I would recommend this CD to anyone looking for a fresh sound amidst all the generic teen pop stars that seem to be all too frequent these days. Bonnie is different, amazingly talented, and her music is completely worth getting excited about. Bonnie McKee may be Trouble, but she's definitely here to stay.

5.0 out of 5 stars Surprise!!! A pop singer that is actually GOOD!, July 25, 2006

At first glance, Bonnie Mckee may seem like any other pop singer. But take a closer look, and you'll see she's anything but. One of the amazing things is, this girl actually has PERSONALITY. (Something really lacking in the music biz today.) All of the lyrics on this amazing debut were written by Bonnie when she was a teen. The subject matter on the songs ranges from scandalous (January and Trouble), funny (Confessions of a Teenage Girl), to sweet (When it all comes down). Bonnie Mckee plays the piano and has a perfect voice when performing live. If you're tired of bland talentless pop stars, take my advice and CHECK THIS CD OUT!!! You won't be disappointed!!

5.0 out of 5 stars FANTASTIC!, August 26, 2005
This review is from: Trouble (Audio CD)
I don't know why it took me nearly a year to hear of Bonnie McKee. I first heard 'somebody' on myspace.com of all places (someone's page had her video on it).
It's the best cd I've purchased in a while; It's pop, yet it's soulful pop.
Definitely worth a listen, and worth your while if you like the samples that you hear. 'Trouble' and 'January' are my personal favorites, but this entire body of work is worth listening to again and again, as I have in the days since I've made the purchase.

4.0 out of 5 stars Awesome, August 5, 2006
This review is from: Trouble (Audio CD)
People have been raving about Bonnie McKee for so long, that i thought i'd get her album and see what all the fuss was about. Well i got it and now i know what everyone means.

Bonnie not only has a great voice, but she's also a talented songwriter. All the songs on the album are written by her. And the lyrics arent just amateurish teenage rubbish like some other artists i could mention. Her songwriting is really quite good and the composing isnt bad either.

This album is a must buy for all Pop/Rock fans. Reccomended for fans of Anna Nalick, Skye Sweetnam and Fefe Dobson.

5.0 out of 5 stars What a voice!, October 24, 2004
This review is from: Trouble (Audio CD)
I recently downloaded the song "Trouble" from iTunes Single of the Week, and I instantly fell in love with Bonnie's style. "Open Your Eyes" is a deep, rich song that shows off both Bonnnie's range (Oh, my!) and her maturity. I also like "Somebody" because it has a choir in it. Definitely check out her CD. Her style is unique. Not only does Bonnie have a distinct clarity to her voice that I have not heard in ages, but her music invokes passion, which she clearly has.

5.0 out of 5 stars Bonnie, January 26, 2005
This review is from: Trouble (Audio CD)
Bonnie McKee has amazing talent for a 19 year old. She has a beautiful voice, and suprisingly writes all of her own songs based on personal experiences or feelings, which you don't see in most singers these days. The all time number one of this album, 'Trouble', depicts being taken over by the lust of a "hawk", and 'Somebody' reassures that there IS somebody out there for you. I love Bonnie's music, and I recommend her music to all of my friends!

5.0 out of 5 stars Bonnie, November 10, 2004
This review is from: Trouble (Audio CD)
She is quite refreshing in this age of teeny pop singers. She has the voice and everything that will take her to fame. She incorporates so much into this ablum, rock, jazz, everything. She almost reminds me of a young Tori Amos. I recommend anyone looking for something new when in this music bussiness its hard to find nowadays. Buy this you will not regret it.
