Book Description

Hetta Coffey is a woman with a yacht and she's not afraid to use it.
A globe-trotting engineer with adventure in her soul, Hetta is determined to solidify her relationship with her long-distance boyfriend, Jenks jenkins. What better place for a romantic interlude than aboard a yacht in Mexico's hauntingly beautiful and solitary Sea of Cortez?
But where Hetta goes, trouble follows, and chaos is sure to ensue. After a run-in with a couple of sea serpents that threaten to rock the boat, she nevertheless decides to take on a project in the port city of Guaymas. After all, Jenks is headed back to Kuwait, so why not cash in on the best of both worlds by making some dough while living aboard her boat in Mexico?
Once again Hetta's indomitablespirit, stubborn independence and penchant for deceit will keep the reader in stitches as she launches herself and her best friend, Jan, into a sea of trouble. A pesky parrot, a drunken aunt, and a shadowy figure who is handsome in a "criminal sort of way" lead to murder, mayhem, kidnapping, and run-ins with several federal agencies on both sides of the border.

Review

You can take the girl out of Texas, but you can t take Texas out of the girl. Set sail for adventure with Hetta Coffey, a bold and bodacious new heroine who doesn t know the meaning of defeat or self restraint. ----Shirley Wenzel, Rice University librarian.
Grab your life preserver and settle back in your deck chair as Jinx Schwartz serves up another deftly and well-blended concoction in Just Add Salt ...worth its salt and promises to leave you anxiously awaiting Hetta at her next port of call, Just Add Trouble. ----Alisabeth Dobesh, Gringo Gazette
Schwartz is a twinkling, bright star on the mystery genre horizon with her witty and sometimes irreverent heroine, Hetta Coffey. --Fictionaddiction.net, reviewer B. Bramblett, author of Sliding Stop.

If you haven't read any of the Hetta Coffey series, you're in for a treat. Each one could stand alone, but to get the full Hetta fix, start with the first one, Just Add Water. I don't know what a 'good beach read' means, I see that phrase a lot in reviews. Just the sound of it, gives the feeling that the book has little substance, or not well written. So I have to tell you that Jinx Schwartz is not writing beach reads, this series has lots of plot, well developed characters, and humor enough to make you want more.
Hetta Coffey and her BFF, Jan, start out with good intentions and with the self assurance that only they can muster. Somehow things go awry and soon they are up to their necks in trouble. Hetta is pretty stubborn, but we can forgive her because she is sure to be a barrel of laughs. Jan tries to rein her in, with little success. In Just Add Trouble, trouble comes in many forms, from an equally stubborn mother to an aunt from hell. Trouble is also flying their way on the wings of a bird. With slow and not to proficient Spanish, Hetta, accepts a package from her mother. When Hetta realizes what the package holds, it's too late to refuse it, the courier is already gone, and this is when trouble begins. Hang on to your hat for a fantastic ride, with Hetta and Jan, through Baja and the Sea of Cortez. Just Add Water (Hetta Coffey)

5.0 out of 5 stars A laugh a minute! July 19, 2012
Format:Paperback
These books are the perfect beach read - just don't plan to get in the water! The Hetta Coffey mysteries just keep getting better. I'm hooked. Now Hetta's in Mexico, it's Christmas time, and she's in a heap of trouble. Man trouble, and so much more. As the owner of a West Highland Terrier, I was thrilled to see one featured in the book. As an animal lover, I agonized over the fate of the Westie and all the other animals. It was a relief to know they fared better than most of the human characters. I can't wait to dive into book 4.

We loved this book. I read it out loud to my husband since we live in Mulege part time and we are familiar with the areas, we like to discuss them. We could hardly wait for the next chapter and sometimes we would have to wait so we could sleep. I hope she writes more stories like this

5.0 out of 5 stars They Do It Again October 9, 2012
Format:Kindle Edition|Amazon Verified Purchase
I read the first 2 Hetta Coffey Mystery Series books, and thought surely the author, Jinx Schwartz would run out of trouble to put these two women in. I was wrong. The third in the series is just as much fun as the first two. If you haven't read these, start with the first book Just Add Water and go from there. It's hard to spread the sincere trouble making duo of Hetta and her companion Jan, two women who regardless of how innocent they want to be, find adversity in everything they do. In the third book, you have the usual anxiety that starts so easy and then races out of control You have a nice mixture this time with Bird trouble along with a mom, aunt and the usual Hetta - Jan mischief. They seem to get into situations that start as easy as stepping outside and then manage to turn simple into a nightmare of sorts. You don't have time to analyze, the story just races on and by the time you begin to question things it's over and you want to read it again. Reading Jinx Schwartz is like going into a very confused mind and somehow finding the sense of it all. I gave it 5 stars because it's just plain fun and we all know I love to laugh, smile and have fun.

3.0 out of 5 stars Good read--a bit too wordy! September 10, 2012

This was an interesting read; however, too much time was spent in descriptions about the country. The bird was an interesting touch, which I enjoyed. I guess I like the book well enough, I downloaded another of the "Trouble" books. It was well written with interesting characters and, different from some kindle reads, very few grammatical or punctuation errors which is always a plus.

5.0 out of 5 stars Hetta doesn't disappoint June 5, 2013
Format:Kindle Edition
Schwartz keeps ramping up the high-jinx (pun intended) and Hetta gets more audacious. I am addicted to this series. Can't wait to read 'Just Deserts'.

5.0 out of 5 stars Jinx Schwartz Delivers, Again! March 25, 2013

"Hetta Coffey is a woman with a yacht and she's not afraid to use it."

I was reading a couple of books when all of sudden I realized there was a new Hetta Coffey book out: Just Add Trouble (Hetta Coffey Mystery Series (Book 3 by Jinx Schwartz. I dropped everything I was doing and started reading. I love Mexico and the Sea of Cortez fascinates me. Hetta bought a yacht and sailed it to Mexico with her friend Jan, who is lonely and wants a man in the worst way. Jan's beautiful, but not too discerning in the man department. That can get the two in trouble.

The book involves a pesky parrot who lives up to his name: Trouble. Hetta tries to help a drunken aunt, and meets a shadowy figure who is handsome in a "criminal sort of way." Schwartz writes about a woman who is independent, but over emphasizes her abilities, that get her into serious situations.

I give "Just Add Trouble" five stars!

The characters annoyed me. I don't like to be critical, but I just didn't like it very much. Hetta Coffey was a bit too offbeat for my liking.
