No bluegrass - just brilliant traditional country,

Rhonda began as a bluegrass singer, but her lovely voice tempted record companies into thinking they could make her into a big mainstream country star. She recorded two country albums, Written in the stars and this one, but didn't achieve that stardom and subsequently returned to bluegrass.Alison Krauss lends her voice in support of Somebody, the opening track, while the duet with Randy Travis (It ain't nothing new) is brilliant, as is The blues ain't working on me (with Dolly Parton singing harmony). Not that Rhonda needs the support of such guests, as all the songs are outstanding. This album would surely have made Rhonda into a major star if traditional country had been fashionable when it was released, but it wasn't. However, it's quality is obvious as soon as you start playing. Any fan of traditional country, or of Rhonda, should give this a listen. It's magic !!!!

This is her second "country" CD. (Rhonda Vincent is widely known for her Bluegrass background.) This CD is a 5-star. Rhonda is joined here with Dolly Parton singing "The Blues Ain't Working On Me"; Randy Travis "It Ain't Nothing New" & Alison Krauss " Somebody." Rhonda does a fabulous tune called "An Old Memory (Found It's Way Back Home Again"). This Album is a must have.

Rhonda Vincent is one of only a few remaining true country music singers. This CD is well worth the money. I have listened to it often and still love it.

Rhonda Vincent is one of my favorite female artists. I wish they would play more of her on the radio. The 3 best songs on the CD are as follows:An Old Memory (#5) What More Do You Want from Me (#6) Somebody (#1) This CD is one of few CD's that I can listen to all the way through many times and not get tired of it. It is more of a "pure country" sound without annoying percussion and loud electric guitars. There needs to be more of this type of country on the radio. This CD is well worth the money. 5 STARS

This is one of the nicest country CDs that I've ever heard. Rhonda Vincent has such a sweet voice. I especially like: You beat all I've ever seen.

Rhonda-the queen of bluegrass takes a brief detour with this album. And what a treat it is too!Although Rhonda has always incorporated country into her bluegrass music, which is what makes her sound so great!!
I love everything about this album. It's pure toe tapping traditional 90's country at it's very best. She begins things with the simply fantastic uptempo Somebody(which features Alison Krauss on harmonies).Other great uptempos are the title track Trouble Free,An Old Memory Found It's Way Back Home Again(she would later record a bluegrass version of this on her One Step Ahead album),it's great to have 2 versions of this catchy song,The Blues Ain't Workin' On Me(which features Dolly Parton on harmonies) and What More Do You Want From Me.All terrific catchy songs. However there are some great ballads too such as her duet with Randy Travis It Ain't Nothin' New although Rhonda easily out-sings him on this,You Beat All I've Ever Seen and When I'm Through Falling Apart. I'm a big fan of Rhonda Vincent and it's one simple reason-talent just pours out of this woman.Rhonda's strongest instrument is her amazing voice and that's one of the best things about this album(and all her cds).I can't recommend this album enough. If you're a fan of Rhonda and country music then this is a must.....

Rhonda is good at this old timey country and I do like this, but it doesn't compare to "Written In The Stars" For me which was done on Giant records too. Could be the sound quality, got it on one of those FYE mix and burn, just doesn't have that great of sound quality.
