My sisters and I adored this wonderful book when we were kids. I read my dilapidated copy to my own children and wish it was still in print so I could give copies to all the kids I love. It's a wonderful story about a little girl who suddenly gains the power to read minds. She goes on a quiz show to get the money to save a favorite park in her community -- she can "hear" the answers. But of course nothing turns out exactly the way it was supposed to, and of course there is a very happy ending. One of the nicest things about this book is its lesson that we cannot read minds, but we can hear the thoughts and wishes of people we care about if we listen with our hearts. This is a little dated but a lot of fun, and very wise.

I read this book more than 30 years ago and still remember it vividly. I read it in the school library (over and over), and it is responsible for my love of reading. I was transported into the book, where I nearly believed I -=WAS=- Jenny. This is truly a magical story.

I am nine years old and I just read this book on a long car ride. It was so good I did nothing but read on the whole car ride. I liked Jenny because she was brave and she didn't give up on getting something that was really hard to get.

I also used to check this book out of the school library over and over again when I was in grade school. I had forgotten the title and happened across it recently and was very excited to find it. It is a great story and I can't wait for my children to read it someday!

i read this book when i was in the 3rd or 4th grade and i still remember it. I now have 2 children of my own and have been searching for this bok for a long time so they could also enjoy it. the book is very good for children and i would consider it to be a must read will make a great book for a summer reading list.

browsing here, i typed the title of this book in on a lark...i remember it from my childhood as one i too checked out from the library over and over. the idea of a small girl with that much power and insight into what everyone else was thinking was completely delicious. i cant wait to receive the copy i ordered for myself as well as the one for my school library. my students will love it! this book helped me realize that the things i KNEW by instinct as a kid were valid--i had my own brand of esp, just like jenny.

i have twin boys who have just turned five, and i cannot wait for them to be able to enjoy this book. (i might jump the age recommendation and get them going on this sooner than 9)

i signed this book out of my public school library in etobicoke (toronto) ontario, and read and re-read it probably a half dozen times ... it's a classic.

The Trouble With Jenny's Ear was one of my favorites as a child. Out-of-print for years, the only place I ever found it was at the public library. At least every other month I'd beg my parents to take me in so I could read, once again, the story of the remarkable Jenny and the ways she dealt with her newfound ability to hear the thoughts of others. Grab this one while you can!

One of my favorite books of all time (I read this at least a dozen times as a kid and then got it for my kids to read). Very hard to find but worth every penny. A delightful story. Great for kids ages 7-12. My highest recommendation.

I read this book when I was about nine or ten years old, along with Butterworth's other book about dinosaurs (The Enormous Egg). This one in particular intrigued me so much that I wrote to the author and he wrote back! That's the first time I ever seriously considered becoming a writer, which is exactly what I do today.

What I liked best about this book was that it posed a hypothetical, fantasy question: what if you could hear other people's thoughts? Would that be a good thing or a bad thing? Would you discover things that you didn't want to know and would be better off not knowing? Or would you find out all kinds of fantastic pieces of information about other people and the world?

Entertaining and philosophical. I remember it well and highly recommend The Trouble with Jenny's Ear.
