5.0 out of 5 stars This is a keeper, August 19, 2006
This review is from: Big Trouble (Signet Eclipse) (Paperback)
Sequel to her debut book, MY HERO.

When she was twelve years old, Naomi Connor innocently hacked into Brennan Shipping, a company with many sensitive defense contracts, and almost destroyed them. When she realized what she'd done, Naomi turned herself in. She wasn't charged because of Brennan CEO Mary Casey's compassion.

Now, twenty years later, former hacker Naomi is a computer security expert and leads a team hired to test Brennan's new security system. She works closely with Mary Casey's son, Joe, a lawyer and the current CTO for the family-owned company. Joe has strong negative feelings about hackers and he doesn't know Naomi was the hacker back then. They both have rules about romancing coworkers and resist each other as long as possible. But the attraction is hot and they fall in love.

This story was emotional, steamy and funny. The way Naomi and Joe got turned on by speaking "geek" was a kick. Naomi was an amazing character - smart, kind, honest, witty - a strong woman. A terrific sequel, well written, can't think of a thing I'd change.

5.0 out of 5 stars A great read - A "cannot put it down" book, July 27, 2006
This review is from: Big Trouble (Signet Eclipse) (Paperback)
For a relatively new comer to the publishing world, this author has written two very good books. This being her second, is actually better than the last. Although a romantic comedy, there is suspense in this book that keeps you on the edge of your seat. There are also a few unexpected surprises too. The story is full, the characters are great-one feels they really get a handle on them and gets to know them. The actual story line is interesting and captivating- this is definitely not "fluff". The storty is also relavent in today's world with internet and corporate security very much a reality in our lives.

5.0 out of 5 stars Big Trouble is big fun, May 7, 2006

This review is from: Big Trouble (Signet Eclipse) (Paperback)
Computer security consultant Naomi Connor is making sure Brennan Shipping's computer system is un-hackable. Unbeknownst to Joe Casey, Naomi hacked into the company's computer system when she was only twelve, nearly bringing the company down. Now she plans to redeem herself, but her plans don't include falling in love with Joe. And Joe's don't include dating a work associate or any kind of long-term relationship. If they do give in to the attraction between them...if he does find out about what she did all those years ago...they could be in BIG TROUBLE.

BIG TROUBLE has a great plot, great romance, great hero/heroine. I learned a few things I didn't know, which is always a bonus. Although it has laugh out loud lines, there is also a serious underpinning. In the story beginning, Naomi says she's looking for redemption, but what they're both looking for is acceptance. And, of course, a lot of sex. This book has both. After reading it, I want to read Jameson's first book, MY HERO.

5.0 out of 5 stars EXCELLENT!, November 19, 2006
This review is from: Big Trouble (Signet Eclipse) (Paperback)
I was amazed by the quality of this book. The writing, the characters, and the believability are all there. The characters - Naomi and Joe - are very 'real' - you are definitely not reading a formula romance - the characters have normal conversations, normal interactions, and a 100% believable romance. It's hard to explain, but the book was just .. perfect. I didn't feel as if I was dropping my level of intelligence to read this; in fact, the writing is quality and the conversations between characters feel like they are taking place in `real-time.' There were a lot of scenes that women can identify with, and I really liked how honest Naomi was - it was great. She didn't say the right things just to get the guy - she was her own woman, and when she didn't like something, she said that. The book was funny, sexy, intelligent. There was a minimal amount of swearing, and the characters really grew and developed throughout the novel. Every scene was necessary to the plot and I really liked how Naomi had body issues - it was overdone a bit at times, but it helped to bring more sensitivity to the character of Joe. Anyway, the plot was rather lame, but the book is character-driven anyway so it didn't matter much. The lead male - Joe - is very sexy, and his banter/interaction with Naomi was wonderful. I thoroughly enjoyed reading the scenes between Joe and his family. Very high marks for this effort and I look forward to reading more from this author.

3.0 out of 5 stars Big Trouble, May 2, 2006
This review is from: Big Trouble (Signet Eclipse) (Paperback)
Twenty years ago, a twelve year old hacker named "R@ptorgirl" wrecked havoc on Joe Casey's family company. When the company needs a security audit now, Joe has no idea that their former nemesis is now to be their best friend, or that he's going to fall hard for Naomi Connor, who has now grown up and reformed. Her skills as a hacker make her ideal for the job, but she keeps her secret hidden. Even as the pull between her and Joe grows, her once upon a time crime overshadows Naomi. She knows Joe and his family would hate her, with good reason, if they found out the truth.

*** Though there is a lot of padding in this story, at its heart, its a good romance of redemption and second chances. It is a very credible tale, one you can imagine really happening. ***

5.0 out of 5 stars fine romantic suspense thriller, May 3, 2006
This review is from: Big Trouble (Signet Eclipse) (Paperback)
Computer security specialist Naomi Connor is the best at doing the seemingly impossible of breaking through barriers that experts insist cannot breached. That is why companies clamor for her services to conduct the ultimate beta test of their systems security as she has left many skilled specialists red-faced.

Defense contractor Brennan Shipping CIO Joe Casey hires her company who sends the world's greatest legal hacker Naomi to break into his new system. She finds it ironic that as a college student she illegally hacked into Brennan Shipping; now she can repeat her escapade legally and clean up any signatures left behind. When Joe and Naomi meet, sparks fly though neither wants an attraction between them. She needs to prove to the world that she has brains as much as beauty while he does not go out with workers or women for more than three dates. Still they fall in love, but he is a boat person and she cannot swim; besides which they must deal with a hacker trying to gain access to top military secrets though everyone concludes it must be her.

BIG TROUBLE is a fine romantic suspense thriller that grips the audience from the moment that Naomi pleads her way onto the assignment and never slows down until the final confrontation with the hacker. The story line is fast-paced as the lead pair falls in love, but he struggles to trust her as she is the prime suspect. The glimpses at computer security are blended nicely into the plot so that the audience obtains a bit of understanding without slowing down the speed. Fans will enjoy Marianna Jameson's wonderful tale and seek her other work, MY HERO.

3.0 out of 5 stars An ok read..., June 17, 2006
This review is from: Big Trouble (Signet Eclipse) (Paperback)
This was the first book I have read by Marianna Jameson. Starting off I didn't have any expectations. I truly enjoyed the storyline of a one time hacker trying to redeem herself with the company she caused so many problems to. I even enjoyed the heroine, Naomi and the Hero, Joe. All together the read was just ok. I wasn't wowed but was able to finish it. Sometimes I found my self rolling my eyes when Naomi would basically pout and think Joe wasn't interested. Something that was different was that not of the sex scenes ever played out. You get the impression they happen then you then all of a sudden the are in bed after the love making. It was a different approach then the normal.

Here it is a year or two later and I can tell you readers I remember most of the details to this book, hence the five star rating. I just recently thought about this book and smiled. I thought the storyline flowed quite well with interesting twist and personal touches. The story kept you interested and guessing. If I could complain about anything, the ending felt rushed. I still highly recommend it. AFter reading this book I couldn't wait to read her one other romance book, but skip it.

5.0 out of 5 stars Wonderful follow up novel, June 13, 2006
This review is from: Big Trouble (Signet Eclipse) (Paperback)
Naomi Conner is a computer security consultant who used to be a hacker known as R@ptrgurl. When she was a teenager she was drawn into a plot to breach the security of defense contractor. Now years later she wants the assignment to help them beef up their security and make amends. What she doesn't count on is the way she is drawn to the CTO Joe Casey.

She and Joe are working closely on this issue and Joe is drawn to her and pursues a relationship with her. He even takes her out on his sailboat for a ride, which he has never done with another woman, and in spite that she is terrified of water. As Naomi and Joe fall in love she finds it harder and harder to keep the secret of her past from him. But, she can't bring herself to tell him as he still talks about the hacker almost ruining their lives. Naomi also discovers that the current breach of security is an inside job. The story climaxes when Joe finds out who Naomi once was.
**************
This is a follow up to the author's first book and a wonderful one at that. She has built on strong characters that you first saw in "My Hero" and taken it further to see how Joe has held a grudge for a number of years but, can forgive. I have to disagree with tall those who said to not waste your money. If you are looking for a great summer book with a bit of intrigue grab this one and stash it in your pool/beach.
