This review is from: Trouble at the Table: Gathering the Tribes for Worship (Paperback)
I had trouble following the premise of this book. It was a seminary read, and I didn't much care for it. It tries to lay out some of the liturgical problems facing modern churches in terms of worship and communion and such. The work does diagnose some problems that some churches have, but it does not really over many viable solutions. The solutions it does offer won't work in a lot of church contexts in terms of liturgy and theology. I didn't find this book to be all that helpful from a ministerial prospective.

Great for parish worship committees,

This book provides the necessary conceptual framework on which to hang a serious discussion about congregational worship. It's especially good in setting out a vocabulary with which to speak about congregational music and styles of worship. For a parish worship committee truly desiring to go beyond the subjective level of likes and dislikes, a chapter-by-chapter engagement with this book should reap rewards.
