waste of money,

Don't waste your money buying this book. First of all, it was difficult getting into the content because of the lack of good editing, especially the punctuation, sentence and paragraph structure. The editor did not know when to add commas, hyphens, or apostrophes. The paragraphs lacked order. I kept wanting to rearrange the sentences, deleting so much that was repetitive. The author constantly used the word "however" to the point that I finally took out a red pen and started underlining the word whenever I found it. This is how distracting a poorly written piece of writing can be. Yet, I continued reading. It is a rather sad tale about a woman who falls under the spell of a con man. The story is one of self-pity, denial, an abuse all in the name of love. Not only were the actions of her boyfriend/lover/husband disgusting, her behavior and actions were at times equally disturbing. How could a woman with any dignity find it loving that a man refuses to use the bathroom in a fancy restaurant preferring to pee in a cup and leave it there just so that he can be with her? She continues her pathetic tale by describing that she also found it funny and wondered what the person's reaction would be who had to clean up the mess. The more I read, the more I felt no pity for this well-educated woman. The only positive thing I can say is that it is a cautionary tale to desperate women about falling for the wrong kind of man.

Great Summer Read,

I could not put The book down. Trouble in Tortola is a story about seeking the truth, who really killed Lois McMillen? The story takes place on a island filled with the most amazing sunsets along with a mystery. Channon Lytton tells the story as if it happened just yesterday. The ending gave me chills. It's summer must read.

Fantastic Read!,

This review is from: Trouble in Tortola (Paperback)
Loved it! I chose this book at first because of the cover! It looked like a great beach-read because of the tropical setting, and turned out to be an unbelievable story! Although not an 'avid' reader, I finished this book in a few days - just couldn't put it down! The author did a fantastic job of describing the scenery and characters, and I truly felt that I was actually part of the saga! I even searched the web for more info on the trials when I had completed it, and looked for pics of the people too! It turned out to be the PERFECT beach read!
