Book Description

When Santa's rebellious reindeer desert him on Christmas Eve, he must call on the lion, elephant, dragon, and other animals to pull his sleigh for his important trip.

Editorial Reviews

From Kirkus Reviews

A new twist on a proven formula: when Santa's reindeer (he has just two) take the year off without notice, his sleigh is pulled by a unique collection of animals, led by a dragon to light the way and including a lion, a donkey, an elephant, a camel, and a mouse to help Santa read the map. They have some amusing difficulties along the way and come home to find that the contrite reindeer have fixed a fine dinner. Watts's illustrations include amusing details and are nicely imbued with warm Christmas spirit. Better than average of its kind. (Picture book. 4-8) -- Copyright ©1991, Kirkus Associates, LP.
