Hurwitz's thriller is competently and clearly read by Erik Steele. The suspenseful plot with its appealing protagonists, U.S. Marshall Tim Rackley and his wife, a deputy sheriff, focuses on an evil biker gang, the Laughing Sinners, and its leader. Steele's pacing and delivery are well suited to the compelling story. Steele's vocal talents powerfully capture the many nuances of characters' moods and personalities as the investigation proceeds from terror in Mexico to poppy fields in Afghanistan to threatening alleys in L.A. The breakneck pace of the narrative is amplified by Steele's distinctive presentation. S.C.A. © AudioFile 2006, Portland, Maine-- Copyright © AudioFile, Portland, Maine
