About the Author
Stephen J. Bigelow is the founder and president of Dynamic Learning System, a technical research and writing firm specializing in PC and peripheral service. An experienced electronics engineer, he is the author of several bet-selling computer books, including Troubleshooting, Maintaining & Repairing PCs, 5/e and is also the series editor for Bigelow's Pocket Reference Series with more than 150,000 copies in print. The editor of The PC Toolbox newsletter and the author of more than 90 articles, Bigelow also teaches PC online courses at Ziff Davis University.

Having reviewed over 800 technical books over the past 5 years, and having with in the computer industry for over 14 years with 8 of those years dealing with networking, I thought I had a very good understanding of networking and networking concepts, After reading this book and taking the test in the back I found there is always something new to learn.
This book is not for one specific exam but rather it can be used for the A+, Network+, Server+ and several ETA exams. The author has made certain that the information is not only accurate but up to date with the current technology.
Covering topics like topologies, protocols, NOSes, wireless WANs, RAID, SCSI, Hardware, backups, virus management, upgrading and most importantly troubleshooting, this book is a must have for every network technician of all skill levels.
The book has over 250 troubleshooting symptoms and the resolutions, and the book has cross references and well as web resources to use for further research. In the back of the book is a DLS Network Technician Certificate Exam, this is well worth taking and paying the fee.
I found the exam challenging and there was only one tiny error on question 71, which should read Table 9-2 instead of 9-5. Overall this is one great reference book to have around.

I have read the spanish version of this book and is a very useful book to learn more about networks or if you are looking for a book in spanish in order to prepare your Network+ exam.
Books cover the topics begining with the basis, so I think that people with few knowledge about networks will be very comfortable reading it.
