Good material for the beginners.,
By Michael J Woznicki "Michael J Woznicki" (Holland, MA USA) - See all my reviews (HALL OF FAME REVIEWER) (REAL NAME)
This review is from: Troubleshooting Microsoft Windows 2000 Professional (Eu-Undefined) (Paperback)
Microsoft has a new operating system, Windows 2000. For the desktop the Professional version is what is used and for those new to this operating system there is major changes from Windows 9.X. This book should make the transition a little easier. The book is written to the beginning level however there is something for every level user. To start each section is flow chart breaking down the topics, from there you have a step-by-step breakdown of troubleshooting techniques and ideas to work with. The areas covered in this book are the desktop, disk storage, dual booting, games, hardware, the internet, printers and printing and peripherals. The book has the making of a great training course for the new users. The appendix included covers editing the registry and while this is a nice addition, users must understand the registry before making any changes. Also you can obtain web updates for the book. Overall for the money this seems to a very good purchase.

Very Little Book For a Complex Operation System,
By A Customer
This review is from: Troubleshooting Microsoft Windows 2000 Professional (Eu-Undefined) (Paperback)
First let me say that this book gives the reader a false sense of security. This book may give you a tip or two, but it is really useless in the real world. I looked through this book at thought how useless it would be at work. If you really want to learn Windows 2000 take a couple classes on it, if you are pressed for time and want a book on Windows 2000 pick up both "Mastering Windows 2000 Professional/Server" at least with those two books if you run into a problem you will have an idea on how to fix or at least know where to find your answers. This book is just too small for what will save your "bacon" out there...

How to Get Through the Maze,
By
This review is from: Troubleshooting Microsoft Windows 2000 Professional (Eu-Undefined) (Paperback)
This book reminds me of times when I would watch parents watching their children playing Super Mario or whatever. The parents would be amazed that their kids knew under which rock to find the hidden treasure which would empower Mario to make it through the maze. This book also reminds me of the Readers Digest do-it-yourself books. There's a little description of the thing that needs to be fixed but most folks skip past that to the list of possible problems and how to fix them. Got a problem with Windows 2000? Need a list of suggestions on how to fix it? This book tells you where to find the treasure to make it through the maze.
