This is probably the most helpful book you can have. It has helped me to solve my computer problems, and also, to learn more about computers. I am not new to computers, but every once in a while something goes wrong, and, instead of reaching for the phone, I reach for this book. I recommend it without hesitation to anyone who would like to be independent and enjoy using one's computer.

I learned so much from this book. It is all written in language that a novice can understand. Great book, I would recommend it to anyone have trouble with their computer.

This book has been a great aid in lowering my Type A blood pressure... "For Dummies" ... The title is quite fitting in regard to my knowledge of the PC, yet Mr. Gookin has assisted me in solving the few problems that were giving me fits....

Book helps a lot. Especially helpful for this stupid VISTA. Would rather have the XP back.

If you are new to computer repair, or just want to figure out what is going on inside your machine, this book is an EXCELLENT source of information.

Yes, it's very basic, which is great for those of us who aren't already immersed in the jargon of computers and don't know a CPU from a PCI. Yet it also will bring you right into the complexities of what is going on (and what may be going wrong) inside your computer. And does it in a fun and non-threatening way.

This book covers mainly software problems. If you want more hardware-oriented information, Upgrading and Fixing Computers for Dummies is a great source. If you happen to buy BOTH books, you have all the basic information you need to start becoming a computer repair whiz!

takes the terror out of "oh no, what did I or can I do?" I'm not a computer whiz by any stretch which is this is so great to have in a person's computer "how to" library.

I purchased this book to do some troubleshooting with my computer. I received it promptly and in good shape. It has been a very useful book. It covers a wide range of problems and has excellent solutions.
