Book Description

Trout Streams November 2001

The definitive guide to this trout-fishing mecca, which includes several of Trout Unlimited's top 100 trout streams in the country.

Wisconsin and Minnesota together boast more than 12,500 miles of designated trout waters in more than 3,000 streams. Thanks to conservation efforts by governmental and volunteer organizations, fishing is better than it has been in decades. In this completely updated and expanded second edition, the authors have added information on many new streams. Veteran anglers Humphrey and Shogren describe their native trout waters with an evocative sense of place that conveys not only the details but also the experience an angler can expect.

Features include: profiles of more than 120 productive trout rivers and streams; information on hatches, access points, and wading conditions; travel directions, map references, and information on nearby facilities; 55 detailed maps; hatch charts for the region's major hatches; advice on tackle, flies, and tactic; local hatch charts and fly patterns; information on tackle shops and guide services; and much more.

5 illustrations and 55 maps

I am a guide and fly fisherman in SE Minnersota and still refer to this book when I explore new water. Almost as good as having a guide with you. Mel Hayner MINNESOTAFLYFISHING.COM

5.0 out of 5 stars A must have, August 7, 2007
This review is from: Trout Streams of Wisconsin and Minnesota: An Angler's Guide to More Than 120 Rivers and Streams, Second Edition (Paperback)
This book is fantastic. The author literally fished almost every stream and wrote about them. The book is filled with photos and maps to help get a visual on what he is describing about each stream. I also found helpful the places to stay and eat he suggested. Make notes of your own next to each stream he wrote about. A must have when scouting new trout streams.

This review is from: Trout Streams of Wisconsin and Minnesota: An Angler's Guide to More Than 120 Rivers and Streams, Second Edition (Paperback)
This book is not the greatest book in the world, the maps leave a little to be desired and don't have great detail. The book has no pictures, but overall nothing like it exists making it a very useful and invaluable tool. Pair it with a Delorme atlas for Wisconsin and Minnesota and you'll be golden. Glad I bought it.
