The trimmer mower provides three cutting length options from 1-1/2 to 5 inches. I bought this mower to tackle my very rural West Texas property. It's very rocky land, covered by thick grass. "Finding" those rocks have ruined a regular mower. The Troy Bilt was everything I expected. It started easily, never choked on the tall grass, and all but ignored the rock. I didn't think I'd like the way it holds the trim line. (Two 18" strips that have to be replaced more often than my old line trimmer's spool). But in this case, the simple way is the best way. Fast and easy. No tools. No bump spool to disassemble and rewind, and no tangles. A bonus I wasn't counting on ... it does a fine job on a small suburban lawn too. Keeping the fence to the left side, I can cut and edge at the same time. Ditto for around poles and under lawn furniture. I've replaced my standard mower and hand held line trimmer.

Not The Old Troy-Built Company,

After my 22inch Yard-Man string trimmer died I was pleased to see Troy-Bilt offered a similar product. I read the previous review that stated problems with the broken oil tube. I have owned a Troy-Bilt rooter tiller for years and thought this was simply a unusual happening, after all Troy-Bilt makes the best. Little did I know the old Troy-Bilt went out of business and was aquired by MTD products. Well ten days later I received my trimmer and the oil tube was broken. With fire season on the way I taped the tube in place and used it to clear the brush. I called MTD products and between being keep on hold on the phone and getting the run around I gave up trying to get the replacement part under warranty. I ordered a new tube on line for $15 including shipping. This string trimmer is the old Yard-Man trimmer with a different engine. Last but not least the product worked well it just wasn't of old Troy-Bilt quality.

This seems to be a very good trimmer. We have had a DR trimmer in the past. It doesn't have as many features as the DR but for the money is a very good buy.
