I was amazed in the quality of this weight system it is worth the money and was delivered in less than 4 days right when I needed it. If I didn't miss the delivery man would have been delivered in 2-3days make sure someone is home when its shipped to sign for pkg. the painting on the weight looks to be very durable and couldn't have asked for more HIGHLY RECOMMEND this product.

So it has been roughly 2 years since I last purchased these weights I figured while I am here might as well give a little update. These weights have been EXCELLENT and have not had any issues w/ the paint chirping off or anything of that nature I have put these weights under constant abuse weight lifting etc..

These weights came just as expected. I have been using them daily for several weeks now and am very satisfied. I especially like the built in handles. It makes them much better for various exercises.

Plates are plate, but these Troy VTX plates are truly premium grade. The casting is top notch; the design is top of the line and it has zero defects. What makes the design appealing are the handles you find in the 25, 35 and 45 lb plates. The smooth handles make it extremely easy to transfer these plates on/off the bar. These plates will add quality and style to your home gym.

Besides the plates, the set comes with a common 7' Olympic chrome bench bar (GOB-86). What I like most about this bar is the circular ridges on the sleeves, which gives the bar more traction for the plates than the smooth sleeves you find on some bars in the gym. Also, the ridges helps to give your collars more grip. Since this bar will be used for a home gym, I advocate higher safety precautions and suggest you use a lock jaw collar or even an Ivanko.

The maximum weight load is 500 lbs, which is more than sufficient for most home gyms. If you plan to squat or bench more than 500 lbs, then you should look into a bar with a higher stress-tension.

You will not be disappointed with this set. Enjoy!

So I'm working out with this set for a while, getting some personal bests. I go workout somewhere else and their bar feels heavier. I get home and weigh mine and to my disgust it is 38lbs rather than the expected 45... Pretty pathetic.

Yup, they're still making good weights and Serious Steel shipped mine out without incident. As stated in other reviews, make sure you're available (or can be) for a day when these contract carriers deliver. Mine came on a pallet which the deliverer rolled right up next my front door for me. There are 5 boxes and the bar which you are to inspect *before* signing for the shipment. Just plan ahead to briefly check the boxes & bar so in the excitement of anticipating moving 300lbs you don't forget to check your boxes.

I was surprised how much I enjoyed the handle design. I new it'd be better than the typical plates, but didn't realize HOW nice until actually moving some around! (very smart design)

Only minor con for me was in combination with the plate load tree I selected. (**Not that the load tree was bad - I'm quite pleased with it and would select it again above the others I saw!) As I mention on its review, these 45lb and 35lb plates hit when placed on adjacent bars (I got the Powerline OWT24 EZ Olympic Plate Load Tree - read that review for a better description of that problem). Once I figure out what I'll generally be lifting I can arrange it so there shouldn't be any problem. Another option could be to put 45s both on the same side of the tree, with 35s on the opposite side. None of the other weights are wide enough to cause similar problems.

Nice weights. I was very surprised at the quality of them. I was a little sketched at first with how they'd look, but they look and feel awesome. In the pictures the edges look sharp but they're nice and rounded. Handles are also nice to have. High quality product at a great price, you can't beat these.

I put together a gym in my home and decided on this weight set. Everything about the set is very nice. After about 10 months of use the weights are pretty scratch free. One of my 10lb plates has 2 little nicks on the edges that rusted a little bit but nothing major. The plates look very nice and glossy, much better looking in person than in the pictures online. The olympic bar is a very nice chrome 45lb bar. I weighed each plate separately and they all weigh what they should. If you've ever bought any cheap weight plates, they can be up to 1-2 pounds off from what they should be. If money isn't too tight, buy this weight set, and you will get quality.

I bought this product and just had it delivered a few days ago. The delivery company was 2.5 hours late. The boxes delivered were so broken apart that I refused to give the "received in good condition" signature until I had opened up everything to inspect it. Additionally, the boxes and weights were pretty filthy. I don't know if this is from the warehouse or delivery truck, but I do recommend that they switch delivery companies.

Aside from the delivery, the product seems pretty good. The weight handles are very handy for moving around. There is a strange odor that seems to be coming from the paint on the weights though. It smells kind of unpleasant and I am hoping that the smell will go away with time. People have commented on the texture of the bar where you place the weights. I have found that this rough surface scrapes a lot of the paint from the weights onto the barbell and would probably rather have had a smooth surface barbell.

Overall I am relatively pleased with the purchase. In my eyes that only thing that gives this weight set 4 stars is the special grips on the weights.

After initial concern over price, I decided to take the plunge and buy the 300 lb VTX weight set from Troy. I could not be happier. The weight set is very high quality and built to last. I look forward to using it for many years. Additionally, the design of the plates are excellent, making changing plates between sets quick and convenient. I would recommend this set to all.

The handles are great. These weights are as advertised. Mine had no signs of rust and no chipping paint upon arrival. They look nice and function like they are suppose to.
