A No-Limit Classic That Is Hard To Find,
By Bill Roddriedriez Connor "Will" (Columbus, GA) - See all my reviews
This review is from: Tru 2 Da Game (Audio CD)
I do recommend this release to a true No-Limit fan. Right now, this release is hard to find. This release has been released two times, which they delete track, "Smoking Green" off the first disc, and add the first two tracks of Disc 2 onto Disc 1 at the end of that disc and add a club mix of "No Limit Soldiers" on Disc 2, after "The Lord Is Testin Me." They revised it when they released it the second time. If you eventually find this double disc CD, I advise you to grab it cause this CD is rare (hard to find). I suggest this release is a good collector's item for any hardcore hip-hop listeners.
The original release sequence: Disc 1: (01) Intro (02) No Limit Soldiers (03) I Always Feel Like... (04) There Dey Go (05) I Got Candy (06) Ghetto Thang (07) FEDz (08) What They Call Us? (09) Gangstas Make The World (10) Smoking Green (11) Swamp Aggin (12) Pimp Sh*t (13) Eyes Of A Killa (14) FEDZ (Radio Version) Disc 2 (01) Ghetto Cheeze (02) Heaven 4 A Gangsta (TRU Mix) (03) TRU 2 Da Game (04) Freak Hoes (05) TRU ?'s (06) 1nce Upon A Time (07) Pop Goes My 9 (08) It's My Time (09) Torcher Chamber (10) They Can't Stop Us (11) The Lord Is Testin Me (12) Final Ride

A two discer worth the money,
This review is from: Tru 2 Da Game (Audio CD)
In case you didn't know, TRU consists of three rappers. MASTER P and his brothers C-MURDER, and SILKK THE SHOCKER. Together and with the help of other rappers from the label as MIA-X, BIG ED, MO B DICK, KANE & ABEL... just to name a few, they put this album out well. The track "NO LIMIT SOLDIERS" (which is followed by a sequel song) is one of the best on the album. Other songs include a remake sampling of ROCKWELL's "Somebody's Watching Me," an interview (which turns into a song) with C-MURDER, and an update of a MASTER P song, "I GOT CANDY". Fans of ICP and CYPRUSS HILL will love track 4 on the second disc, "FREAK HOES". One of the best double discers from the label.

TRU puts it down! with this double cd. If you're from the street, can relate with this right here, and like their style- i know you can feel what i'm saying. In my eyes, this group right here as it is; P, Silk, and C-murder is all you need. I like the fact that they limited the guest appearances cuz when i buy a cd i want to hear that person or group right there on the cover. you know what? they took a song off this cd that first appeared on it's original release called "smoking green" it is one of the top 3 tracks. oh well i got it. i could go on bout this right here for a while. all i got to say is buy this if you like rap, if you don't like rap ... well nobody cares bout you anyway

A Classic A must Have,
By A Customer
This review is from: Tru 2 Da Game (Audio CD)
This cd is the Bomb. No Limit Soldiers is what got me hooked on no limit in the first place. Ice Cream man got them noticed but this one put then on the map. If they still made cds like this no limit would be still be on top but this new stuff is so F*cking wack it is a shame. its like they don't care about what there making, just put it out. NL Soldiers and swamp N*gga are worth buying the cd it self but there are plenty of song on the Album worth listening to. Plus i was lucky to get the cd when it first came out so I got Smokin Green instead of the other 2 songs. People who have the original cd know what i 'm talking about. Anyway this is TRU NO LIMIT , NONE OF THAT BULL SH*T THAT THEY ARE PUTTING OUT NOW, GET THIS ALBUM.

One of the essential southern hip-hop albums,
By
This review is from: Tru 2 Da Game (Audio CD)
In the late 90's No Limit was on top of the world. This Album really put that grimey, new orleans style on the map. Tru?, Torcher chamber are my 2 favorite songs. No Limit soldiers was a huge hit down south. If you are just now finding southern hip hop or are wanting to delve deeper into it's history when it was great, then this is the album for you.

A tasty slice of Americana.,

In my formative years, I found myself in a difficult struggle to fit in with my peers. It seems that my affinity for playing games such as "Magic: the Gathering" and "Advanced Dungeons & Dragons (AD&D)" with several like-minded friends from marching band held me back from gaining any real form of acceptance from the "cool" people in my class. Simply put, I was an outcast. Even my father, rest his soul, would not speak to me directly.. we would only communicate through e-mail (which was a crude, unpolished technology at the time) because he could not stand the sight of such a poor excuse for a young man.
Then, one day, my life took a drastic turn. One fall day, I was introduced to the visionary artistry of Master P, Silkk da Shocker, and C-Murder by a fellow McDonald's kitchen associate. He informed me that he possessed something that would undoubtedly change my life. I was very reluctant to take his offering.. it was a blank tape that contained a simple inscription on one side, side A I believe it was. In bold, black print (obviously the work of a Sharpie Marker or perhaps a Marks-o-Lot) was written the word, "Ugh." Little did I know, I was about to enter what I now refer to as the "Platinum Years" of my life...a time in which my morals, values, virtues, and worldview would be changed forever. Tru 2 da Game was the album that he gave me. I had never heard anything as beautifully mesmerizing as what I heard that day...swirls of sound and color...gyrations of beat and rhythm combined with a flavor of poetry that was completely foreign to me at the time...brutal honesty and sincerity that traversed the wires of my headphones out to the speakers and down into my ear canal all the way through my veins and then into my heart gripping it in the same manner of which a 12th level Paladin clutches his +3 Hammer of Odeonus. Completely and utterly captivating. I have since purchased both versions of the CD (The one that contains the track "Smokin' Green" and the version that does not) and I have listened to both of them equally every day for the last 9 years doing my best to follow the virtues and ideology that Master P and company worked so vociferously to layer within the tracks of this un-deniable masterpiece...which has been a proven formula for success. I won't go into a great deal of detail.. just know that life is good. I hope that my story of success will serve you all as a form of motivation and inspiration. If I could give more stars, I would. Since I am forced to work within the restrictions of a 5-star rating convention, 5 stars it is.

Tight,
This review is from: Tru 2 Da Game (Audio CD)
This is a hella tight album by TRU except it isn't as tight as all their other albums. But it is well worth listening to! The best songs are No Limit Soldiers, I Always Feel Like, I Got Candy, FEDz, Gangstas Make The World, Swamp N***a, Pimp S**t, TRU 2 Da Game, TRU ?s, Pop Goes My 9, and Torcher Chamber. Even though all of TRU's other albums are better, this album is tight as well! Buy it!

Tru 2 Da Game is the group's sophomore effort and what an effort it is. Whether it's the soothing melody of C-Loc's "1nce Upon a Time" or Mia X's brutally honest assessment of modern society entitled "Freak Hoes", this album has something for everyone. In fact, last Christmas I bought a copy of it for everyone in my family. My twelve-year-old daughter just loves "I Got Candy" by Mo B. Dick and asserts herself in her schoolwork more vigorously than ever in hopes of one day being given the honor of servicing the appendage after which Mr. Dick is named. At first my grandfather was skeptical of my gift to him, but after hearing "Ghetto Thang" his doubts were immediately wiped clean. He's been passing the album around the nursing home where he currently resides, and it seems to be a real hit amongst the 76-84 demographic. If you 2 are tru 2 da game, then I suggest u get 2 da store 2 buy this album b4 it's 2 late 2 obtain a copy of tru 2 da game.
