Product Description

NEW Long Tru-Cool Max transmission cooler P/N LPD4739. This cooler is rated at 40,000 GVW and measures 8.5"x22.75"x1.25". This is a stacked plate, low pressure drop unit. This cooler has 3/8" inverted flare fittings and comes with a thermal bypass valve so you can use this cooler in cold weather and the fluid will bypass until the transmission comes up to operating temeratures. This is the ultimate cooler for heavy towing and is a must for heavy duty applications, including racing. Heat is what kills an automatic transmission. If you want to extend the life of your transmission and avoid or prolong a costly rebuild, this is very cheap insurance. All parts and instructions are included to mount and plumb this cooler. Retail price is $200+. This cooler comes with a manufacturer's limited lifetime warranty.

I added -an6 fittings and braided hoses. This was used for a brand new transmission and we had our first 100 degree day. I could barely tell the different with the gauge. Tranns is a 4L65E and I am using Royal Purple ATF. These combine are doing the trick. Install was straight forward. Great product.

Before putting this oil cooler in I was having troubles with my transmission overheating towing my camper. With this cooler my transmission temperature has not gone above 170 degrees. Installation was easy but they should give you a bit more rubber line. I had to go buy a few more feet.

Can see future problems with bugs hitting cooling fins.. The fins were less than 10% the gauge of metal on an orig equip cooler. Appeared to be the thickness of alum foil. Any bug hitting the cooler will bend the fins closed and reduce the cooling. I plan to devise some sort of screen to protect it from bugs and hope it helps. We all know to keep bugs from clogging up the fins but haven't had to worry about a mosquito BENDING the fins closed???

Nice, well built cooler that is double the size of the one that came in our E450 motorhome chassis. It was a shoehorn fit.
Reduced peak temps by 10 degrees, while towing a Jeep in 100+ temps.

The thermostatic valve, designed to let cold oil bypass the cooler, failed almost immediately, bypassing the cooler when the oil was hot. Took it out and bypassed it on the side of the road, not wanting to burn the trans up before we got home..
