I had one of these for about 10 years in my car in combo with a very large transmission cooler. It finally got stuck and was causing some issues with the trans. I put a new one and it everything is working good again. I have the cooling capacity of a very large stand alone cooler without worrying about overcooling in the winter.

This is favored over the other valves I've seen because the hose barbs are all one solid unit - less chances of leaks! Those other models have screw-in hose barbs & if you're not careful about turning them into the valve body (crossthreading) & properly tightening them, you will have leaks!

This little hunk of aluminum greatly reduces that chance of leaks. the top of the unit has a snap ring that holds the valve assembly in place & that's the only possible place to have a leak (if your hose clamps are secured)

There are other models that have this integrated into the trans coolers themselves, by I went the cheaper route & got a stand-alone unit for $30. Acura/Honda models (mainly theminivan &suv ones) have a major design flaw with their transmission lines to the bottom of their radiators & some Nissan SUVs as well. Many are bypassing the lines to the radiator to avoid mixing of the coolant & trans fliud.

Since I'm in the northeast region, I may see up to 4 months of cold weather & this will make sure the trans oil temps will be warmed up to operational range sooner just like the thermostat of your cooling system.

Rave reviews on other sites & users. I got it cheaper at bay including shipping, but that's not the point. I'm just surprised that there are so few reviews on this site so I,m adding my 2 cents.

Tip: make sure the line going out of the trans thru the valve to your cooler is on the bottom so the flow will push the air bubbles UP & out of that cooler
