"Remarkable in its soup-to-nuts coverage of all aspects of putting together a Tru64 UNIX-Oracle9i cluster. Information is covered in a succinct, easy-to-reference manner."-Brad Nichols, Technical Consultant, Compaq Tru64 UNIX Support Engineering

"Tru64 UNIX-Oracle9i Cluster Quick Reference provides a concise step-by-step procedure for implementing Oracle9i on a Compaq Tru64 UNIX cluster. By starting with the hardware, then software, and finally database installation procedures, Tim Donar does an excellent job in capturing the necessary processes without overburdening the reader with too much detail. 5.0 out of 5 stars Easy to follow complete reference guide., April 25, 2002

This review is from: Tru64 UNIX-Oracle9i Cluster Quick Reference (HP Technologies) (Paperback)
This reference guide covers everything from the installation of Unix to the installation of Oracle.
No longer does the average system administrator have to search through numerous manuals, it is all included in this one book. The book walks you through the process of setting up storage, Unix installation, and Oracle with just the right amount of information to get the job done.
I found it very easy to follow with real life examples of how to do everything.
I would recommend this book to anyone that is in the planning stages or has a running Tru64 Oracle9i Cluster now.

5.0 out of 5 stars Exactly as Advertised, July 19, 2002

This review is from: Tru64 UNIX-Oracle9i Cluster Quick Reference (HP Technologies) (Paperback)
I am not even an Oracle admin, and I found this book to be one of my best resources. I am a Tru64 Unix admin, and this book is a super quick reference (as titled) for everything from disk controllers to system tuning. I love the clean, organized layout of the book, with a chart like summary of commands at the end of each chapter. One of the best computer books I own for sure.

Tim Donar has done a great job presenting a lot of complex detail in an easy to read, step by step format. Many abstract concepts are clarified by excellent illustrations which reduce the chance of misinterpretation. Highly recommend.
