Best OTC Source Of Resveratrol To Date..., July 15, 2011
This review is from: TruNature Resveratrol Maximum Strength with red Wine Extract-250mg -120 Softgels (Health and Beauty)
Anyone thinking of starting or continuing a regimen of RESVERATROL would do well to click on YOUTUBE.COM and enter WINE Rx in its search engine. This near 13 minute video was produced by 60 Minutes and features Morley Safer in an early 1980s history on RESVERATROL. I believe it safe to say that this video marked the first time most Americans ever heard the name RESVERATROL and became aware of its therapeutic value. That said, I'm a retired chiropractor who emphasized Applied Kinesiology techniques in practice and between myself and an AK colleague we tested several OTC Resveratrol brands and only this particular bottle provided consistently satisfactory clinical results. Trunature's Maximum Strength Resveratrol is the same potency (250 mg) as the one depicted in Wine Rx and is also available at Costco. It should be noted that several online physicians hawk their own brand labels of Resveratrol but none of these were tested. Trunature also manufactures Grape Seed Whole Grape and Resveratrol but this product gave disappointing results on AK testing. As an aside prior to taking this product I was contemplating bilateral knee replacement surgery, but no longer. I now think in terms of returning to skiing next winter -- an activity I discontinued several years ago. Final suggestion, if a person exhibits idiosyncratic effects from this product cut back on daily dosage of one-a-day and consult an AK doctor (icak.com).

Listen to your body, July 10, 2011
This review is from: TruNature Resveratrol Maximum Strength with red Wine Extract-250mg -120 Softgels (Health and Beauty)
I like taking Resveratrol supplements and I believe they do work. However, be careful and listen to your body. After taking this supplement for a couple of months, I started having joint pain and tendonitis symptoms all over my body. I felt so bad that I made multiple trips to my doctor. After manipulating my joints, testing various pressure points on my body, and running at least two dozen blood tests, the doctor was mystified as to what was causing my pain.
In the meantime, I was researching causes of joint pain on my own. I stumbled across an article suggesting a direct link between high doses of resveratrol and joint pain. I immediately stopped taking this supplement, and I started to feel better within a couple of days.
To be fair - my husband still takes this exact supplement every day and he feels great. So I don't think it's the supplement, it's ME and how I respond to it that's the problem. Or maybe it's because he outweighs me by seventy pounds? At any rate, I suggest that people use caution with resveratrol - not everyone can handle a large dose.
