A Kid's Review
This review is from: TruckDogs (Hardcover)
well, I was going on holiday and I went in a book shop in philidelphia airport (because the writing in mine was too small),I went to the back of the store where the kids books were and the book seemed to jump into my hands as soon as I saw it, I read the blurb and it sounded good so I asked dad if I could get it it was expensive, but worth it, he bought it and read it on the plane, it was so funny and well written I am reading it again now for the 3rd time!My over all rating is 100000000000000 stars, the book is exellent!

Bold Idea by Picturbook Writing Favorite,

In this first novel, by acclaimed picture book writer, Base (Animelia, The 11th Hour) creates an imaginative world that combines animals and automobiles into such combinations a bulldozer and bulldog. The strength of the world carries the first half of the novel. Some readers might become bored by the plot featuring a band of evil TruckDogs taking over a town. This book, accompanied by twelve gorgeous illustrations should especially appeal to readers who enjoy machines. Base shows some promise as a novelist and this first effort will likely delight some readers with its inventive world and heavy doses of action.

TruckDogs,
A Kid's Review
This review is from: TruckDogs (Hardcover)
After being kicked out from town will the mongrel gang return when the town is in danger from the DesertDogs. Or will they give town what they deserve.Find out this and more by reading TruckDogs. TruckDogs is a very good book with energetic characters like Sparky and quiet and headstrong characters like Rex and Hercules and great illustrations by Graeme Best. I think children aged 10-13 would really enjoy this book.

With an earthy, refreshing humor which is truly delightful,

This novel is a recommended pick for any who enjoy humor, fantasy, and animals. Set on a desert world, it tells of a dog-like create covered in fur with steel panels underneath who lives on brake fluid and oil. Track Dogs is Graeme Base's first novel and would more adequately be classified as a fantasy -- one that is replete with lovely color plates and an earthy, refreshing humor which is truly delightful.

THIS TOTALLY SUCKS!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!,
A Kid's Review

I saw this book at Borders, and I thought the whole idea was wicked cool until i started reading the book. There were a ton of problems with this book that I'd like to point out.1.) You can't really keep track of the characters, there really don't need to be so many. I had to look back at the pictures to remember who was who 'cause the dialog could be swapped with anyone, and it would still make sense. 2.) There really isn't a plot. There's barely any real action. It's really messed up. The evil guy isn't even that bad. and 3.) I didn't get what the whole point of putting the book into four bites was. Maybe it was to use up more pages. In conclusion I really don't recommend this book. If you like reading about dogs I would suggest Good Dog by Avi. |
