Buy this if you want Carpel Tunnel,
By Rookie Cook (California) - See all my reviews

I bought this pepper grinder thinking it was a great idea to be able to grind pepper onto meats while I spread the seasonings with my other hand (thus not having to keep washing my hands after mixing in each ingredient... Boy was I wrong. I tried setting the grinder to different thicknesses but on any setting, the grinder hardly lets fall any pepper. I wind up every time getting a sore hand and hardly any pepper. This product sucks. Stick to the two handed method. Don't waste your money.

This lets you keep a hand free to stir,
This review is from: Trudeau One-Hand Mill, Chrome (Kitchen)
This is great for grinding fresh pepper while you are cooking, and want to keep one hand free to stir the pot.Handle is ergonomic, and fits well in the hand, with fine to course adjustable grind. Would have been 5 stars if the yield were larger, you have to squeeze a few times to get a decent amount of pepper. Still much better than my regular pepper mill.

Worked for a while,
By Critical Consumer (Price, UT United States) - See all my reviews

This mill was ok (not great) for a couple of months but did not age well. The grind became inconsistent and it was always a lot of work for the amount of pepper it produced. Eventually, it just wasnt worth the effort. Have also used the pepper ball style of one-handed grinder, which lasted 2 or 3 times longer than this one. Anyway, i am back, looking for a better one-handed grinder.

cheaply made. It worked well the first few times and then became SO inconsistent that whenever I used it I would have to stop and work with it to make it work.Don't waste your time or money on it!!

Terrible - a huge disappointment,
By Danielle Suzanne (New England) - See all my reviews

Just awful. Horrendously overpriced for a crappy, poorly-made item. The "chrome" is shiny plastic and very cheap looking. The mechanism barely works (and don't bother trying to use this if you've got even a touch of arthritis OR if you have normal-sized hands -- this is made for giant monster hands). It doesn't crank smoothly or evenly. And the pepper comes out a mix of dust and huge chunks (when it comes out at all) -- for every ten squeezes, you get maybe 1/32 teaspoon of pepper. It would take forever to season whatever you're cooking. There's nothing useful about this product. And there's nothing very nice about it, either. It looks so lovely in the pictures, all sleek and modern and sturdy. But in actuality, it feels and looks like a five-dollar bargain bin item. This is surprising from Trudeau; I own and adore many of their products and find them all to be of excellent quality.

I looked around for a one-handed mill for our kitchen. My wife and I have had three different grinders for pepper, and they all used two hands. Initially, I liked the design of this product, so I got one in white for coarse sea salt and another in black (no longer made). Both worked intermittently. We tried several types of salt, and found coarse grain sea salt the best. Even then, though, the mill would stop working. Fiddling with the coarseness adjustment, shaking, nothing really seemed to work. The pepper mill worked reasonably well for months, but became increasingly difficult to operate.Recently the pepper mill broke. I disassembled the unit and the cheap plastic parts were clearly the culprit. I wanted to see if I could match the set. My wife was totally disillusioned with the product, but I went and ordered this chrome one anyway. I thought maybe she overdid it and got a little "enthusiastic" grinding pepper. It has failed to work since day one. It doesn't grind at all, even after we simply transferred the pepper from the broken mill that had worked before. By the way, "chrome" here means chrome-plated plastic. Don't believe for a second that this product has any more metal parts than four screws, one shaft, and the grinding element. Everything else between your hand and the pepper is plastic. Never again. Don't waste your time on this product. I have had three and they are all dogs.

Good looks, poor engineering,
By Retired2AZ (Arizona) - See all my reviews

Trudeau prides itself on design. They live up to that. The engineering does not.The mill works OK with salt; poorly with pepper. I had to keep pulling the handle into the full open position for it to work after the first squeeze. Not worth the money.

I actually thought the handle portion was metal, however when I received it, I saw it was plastic. (metal colored) It works fine, but for $25 I am not sure how long it will last.

Broke after a Year,
By
This review is from: Trudeau One-Hand Mill, Chrome (Kitchen)
Liked it at first. But if you want a lot of pepper it will give your hand/wrist a workout. After a year and not even finishing off one refill the handle broke out of the main base. I'll go with an electric one next time.
