Product Description

Amazon.com Review

This lightweight and easy-to-clean dough cutter is the tool of choice for making delicate piecrusts, biscuits, and pastries from scratch. Unlike an expensive food processor, it won't over-blend the ingredients, and it's much easier on your hands than using knives or forks. Simply rock the five gently curved blades back and forth over the fat and flour; they'll cut them together in a fraction of the time of the two-knife technique. Because the blades are nonstick, they clean up easily in the dishwasher and won't clog or adhere to the butter or shortening. Durable, dishwasher-safe, and heat-resistant, this sleekly designed dough blender features an ergonomic rubberized handle and is comfortably balanced in the hand. Equally convenient for chopping nuts, dried fruits, and chocolate, it measures 5-1/2 by 4-3/4 by 1-3/4 and is covered by a five-year warranty. --Mary Park

5.0 out of 5 stars Functional, Comfortable, Fabulous!, October 26, 2005
This review is from: Trudeau Nonstick Dough Blender (Kitchen)
I love this dough blender! I had for years been itching to buy a dough blender and had decided that the wire-types (like OXO's) would be too flimsy for me. Many of the others I had looked at seemed uncomfortable or awkward to hold and use for long periods of time. I wasn't sure what I was getting myself into when I bought this product, but I'm glad I did make the purchase.

I use my dough blender mostly to chop in chilled/frozen butter to make pie crusts. It's easy, speedy, and effective. I can obtain a smooth and consistent "breadcrumb" texture in a matter of minutes.

Very sturdy construction, thick metal doesn't fold or shift under pressure. The handle is very comfortable, shock absorbent, non-slip rubber, comfortably sized for one hand. The blender itself fits into a medium bowl and its curvature assists with the blending process. Because the blades/tines have some height (vs. wire tines), you will get bits and pieces stuck on them, but it's really easy to stick a finger or a sponge in between the tines and clean them out. Clean up is super easy. I was very pleased with this purchase.

2/23/06: Still works great! No problems yet.

2.0 out of 5 stars Mine broke too!!!, March 8, 2006

This review is from: Trudeau Nonstick Dough Blender (Kitchen)
I used this dough blender for not even 6 months, and the handle snapped! (mind you, I am not a pastry chef, so I was not using it everyday. I used it a handful of times.) I understand it has a 5 year warrenty, so i will try to get it replaced. I have to say that it worked great before it broke.

1.0 out of 5 stars Broke two times, February 14, 2006
This review is from: Trudeau Nonstick Dough Blender (Kitchen)
I have now bought this dough blender twice and it broke in the same spot (where the handle connects to the metal) both times. I thought it was a fluke the first time, so I bought another one, and only after 4 uses, it broke also. I think I'll try another brand next time.
