Trudeau 15-Piece Meat Fondue Set

I made meat fondue in this for x-mas last year, I am planning to cook chocolate in it for choclate dipped strawberies soon. works great, and is easy to clean!

We purchased two of these for hosting large fondue party and found them up to the task. They heated nicely, were easy to clean and those stoneware dishes came in handy. Unlike another reviewer, our items came with all the necessary parts (the fuel burner/container, the protective cover, and the fork guides). It looks like they made a mistake on his or her order.

On the downside, the sterno we purchased did not fit in the container and the construction overall was a tad "tinny."

Overall, these are fine items if you are going to use them, as we did, for a large party where you need several pots. However, if you are giving this as a gift or plan on having only one pot in your collection, I recommend purchasing something a little more solid and aesthetically pleasing. Much nicer than my old, smaller ceramic pot. This one is built for some serious dipping.

The fondue pot does look very nice! But it's missing some parts (the fuel burner/container, the protective cover, and the fork guides). The box doesn't have any assembly directions--just some recipes written in French. The only "document" written in English is a warning, in red letters, not to use liquid or fondue-pot fuel.

Overall, this fondu look like used, reconditioned, or refurbished.

We purchased two of these for a Christmas Eve party and used them alongside several other types of sets. The overall appearance and quality were good and the stand is sturdy and solid looking, especially considering the price. We did find it didn't get quite as hot as a couple of the other sets (other brands from other guests) and so food took a tad longer. Curiously the pot on this Trudeau set sits a little closer to the flame than the others so I am not sure if the pot's construction is different leading to the temperature difference. We used it to heat both oil and a bullion-based fondue. Overall we are very happy with the pots and we will be using them again in a couple of weeks.

I liked the set, but when it arrived it did not have any forks. From the picture and the way it was advertised, it seemed to have them. It has the four little bowls along side, but not the forks sticking out of the pot! This left me in a bad situation, having to pay more than double the value of the forks for their express shipping, that, had the advertising been more clear, I would have bought at the same time as the pot and saved money. Also, the pot is made of metal that is thinner than of what it appears to be from the picture. Other than this, however, it is a nice set and I recommend it. (Just order your forks separately!)

I bought this thinking that everything came with it. Well, almost - didn't get the gel-pack thingie for the burner. Just make sure that you read the description CAREFULLY and get EXACTLY what it is that you will need for your fondue night.

I read the other reviews. This is my first fondue set, I bought two sets actually. We are planning a dinner with meat ( in oil ) and cheese.

My rating is only three stars because of what I perceive as the quality / price ratio. I deliberately chose a cheaper set as this is our first fondue set. We will see how much we enjoy doing the fondue before we upgrade. We have not yet used the sets, so this review is based on unpacking and examining what we have received only.

One reviewer describe the set as 'tinny'. If fact, the metal of the entire set is very thin! The handles are cheap light plastic with one screw per handle. The cover to put out the flame is thin and sharp on the edges. This set is designed to use fluid gel fuel, not sterno pots.

Our sets were well packaged by Amazon. All the pieces were included. The cups are ceramic. Our base varies from the Amazon photo : it is straight up and down, not curved as shown. This makes the pot stand a little higher which I like.

I would only recommend this set at a rock bottom price.

Has all required items in this set.
Used de-natured alchohol for fuel. Be careful it is easy to spill the fuel.
Gel is probably better for this.
Need to heat up the oil before using the fondue bowl.
Good for not more than 3 at a time.

I've only used this once so far, but it worked great and I look forward to using it a lot more. I bought another brand for cheeses and desserts and it didn't work nearly as well as this one. If could do it over again, I would buy two of these and forget the other!
