Plunk this 20-by-24-inch pastry/cutting board on a counter, and it stays put while you knead dough or chop onions. The board doesn't require a damp towel underneath either, because soft Santoprene corner pads prevent it from skidding. Just a half-inch thick and therefore lighter than most cutting boards, it's formed from nontoxic, food-grade polypropylene and won't chip, splinter, or warp. You can use both sides of this board--one side has a groove for trapping juices or liquids and is perfect for cutting or carving, while the side with no channel is more suitable for pastry. The board is stain-resistant, but if it does become stained, soaking it in bleach for 15 minutes should restore the surface. Though imbued with an agent that inhibits bacteria from penetrating the board itself, the board won't protect users against food-borne bacteria or other germs and must be cleaned like any other kitchen surface. It's dishwasher-safe, but scrubbing with a brush or cleanser is recommended when it needs more than a simple wiping. --Fred Brack

I use my polypropylene board for meat preparation since it is dishwasher safe. I have been known to ruin small wood chopping boards by putting them in the dishwasher. They eventually warp and I have to toss them. So, this saves me money in the long run and makes me feel good as it can be put in the dishwasher. This board is large enough for all meat preparation.
