There's really no such thing as the perfect tea infuser or there wouldn't be so many new ones out there. This one is made of silicone, which has the advantage of its rubbery-feel flexibility. The tea goes into the body of the "berry" and is then put in the bottom of the mug. The "handle" is the leaf, and the "stem" is flexible. That means it hangs over the edge of the mug like a teabag, as opposed to many metal infusers where the handle is rigid and sticks up several inches out of the mug, making the whole thing a big unstable. There is a "slice of fruit" that serves as a lid to the mug while you're steeping the tea, and then as a place to put the infuser after it's done its job.The only real complaint I have is that the "berry" isn't quite big enough, at least for some kinds of tea. It depends on how much tea you want in the infuser. If you're using a type that requires a full tablespoon, for instance, it's not going to work very well. On the other hand, the holes in the berry are small enough that there aren't a lot of extra tea leaves floating around in your mug. I have yet to find the perfect infuser, but this is a nice one to use while I further the search.

Nice for smaller cups. Cute?,

I am a long time black tea drinker. Now a days, I have been lowering my caffeine, A LOT, but not the size of the cup. These are nice for my Mom and her smaller cups that the "leaf/tail" hangs out of. They're pretty & cute and that's why I got them for her. She loves them! For me, I like that you can use them in the microwave, even on job sites(yah, go ahead and laugh! I do.), unlike any stainless steel infuser. Easy to rinse out, too.(in dishwashers, as well) My only problem is that the tail falls into my taller cups/mugs all the time and I have to dig it out. And the lid not fitting over wider mugs, not as big of a mention.Don't get me wrong. Great idea and product, for most. Microwavable infuser, to me, as much as I am running around all the time or at work?... Nice!... It made it more convenient for me to drink healthier teas, on the go. So, I'll give'em that! ... And my family and I have looked at/for A LOT of different infusers, through the years. So, Mom gets the Trudeau, and I am trying the new ones with the stiffer, spoon shaped, silicone infusers from [...], that can't fall in. I was hoping Amazon carried them, too. If they work out, maybe Amazon will have them by the time I need new ones or more of them! (hint to Amazon -lol-) 5 stars: for product itself 3 stars: for tail falling inside my taller cups :)

Random color appauling (orange),

I was well aware that I would be receiving a random color, but the color I received is not anything like the strawberries pictured. Of course I was hoping for a red strawberry, but instead I got orange. And this is not just any orange. It is the ugliest, dirtiest-looking orange I have ever seen. It's a cross between a burnt orange and tan. I'm really disappointed in the color alone.I tried my infuser out and it was a flop, however the tea I used was finely ground. The small bits of tea floating in my drink rendered it undrinkable for me. I'm disappointed, but I should have known better from reading the reviews. I do not recommend this item as a tea infuser. Not only was the color I received enough to make a yak puke, but its functionality was far below my expectations. I do not see this working well for any kind of loose tea. It the strawberry itself was made of a wire mess, then it would be awesome. Sometimes silicone isn't always better. Very cute though. I guess I fell for the damned cuteness attack.

I ordered 4 of these when a friend of mine showed me hers. they arrived today and i just got done trying one out. I love that it is made of silicon because it is so much easier to use than the metal and other tea infusers i have used, the little stem works great like the string of a tea bag and dangles off the side of my tea mug and i love that it is flexible and not like some of the metal handles i have used in the past. I love the little lid that also comes with it so that when i am done using it to cover my cup and let the tea steam i can set the little berry infuser on it. The little berry part of it can hold a decent amount of tea and the little holes are nice because so far i havent had any problems with loose tea getting everywhere in my mug! the reason i did rate this four stars instead of five is that some teas dont quite fit in the berry, if they have bigger pieces to them, or if you need to use a certain or larger amount. But it mostly works and i adore it!! it is easy to clean up after also which is amazing and nice :) lol i was disappointed by the fact that the colors were randomly chosen. i was really hoping to receive a red one at least but i ended up with 3 yellow and 1 orange. I think this would make a great gift for any tea drinkers you might know, I want to send one to a friend of mine who will just love the cute berry look and how nice it is to use.On the cute note i think it was a creative way to make the infuser! i love strawberries and when i saw this it just made me say i have to try it! it's so cute! All in all I think the positive to this infuser is the silicone which makes it flexible, and it is abit more stable than the metal infusers with handles that can sometimes be a bit heavy. can hold a decent amount of tea and is easy to clean up!!! I'm so glad my friend showed me hers! it's just what i needed.

Great For Tea Drinkers! Oprah Likes It!,

Well I got this off of a different website but I love it so much. It is just so cute and it works great. The berry is big enough for a plenty of tea and it floats so you don't have to fish around in hot water for your tea. The little saucer is so nice and keeps the water hot while its steeping and then you can use it to rest the teaberry on so you don't get drips anywhere.I guess my only complaint is that it a pain to clean, but you can toss it in the dishwasher no worries. Everyone who sees this thinks its so cute. I saw it in Oprah's favorite things part of her magazine and just thought it was so cool I had to get it.

silicone taste added to tea,
By
This review is from: Trudeau Silicone Tea Infuser & Cup Lid Set (Random Colors)
Yes I know that some metal infusers also add a tinge of metalic taste to tea but I prefer that to silicone flavor which tastes a little like rubber. I thought that over time the silicone taste would go away but it doesn't. Plus you can't pick the colors you get and the holes are too big so tea comes through easily. I no longer use the infuser, but I still use the cup cover all the time to keep my tea & coffee warmer longer.

I bought the TRUDEAU SILICONE BERRY TEA INFUSER because I accidentally bought some green tea in a pouch that I thought was the powdered instant kind that I normally get, but it wasn't. This green tea was actually the leaves and since I don't have a teapot, I tried using just the leaves but then I couldn't drink to the bottom of the cup without getting a mouth full of them, lol.The BERRY TEA INFUSER is perfect for what I need it for. I received the yellow one and it goes great with the green stem. It's easy to open and clean, and I can get a full teaspoon of tea leaves in it with more than enough room to allow the leaves to expand. You could probably get 2 to 2 1/2 teaspoons, maybe 3, depending on how big the tea is. I also found that I can get almost three cups of tea, actually more like 5-6 because my cup is large and holds about 2 1/4 cups, with just the one teaspoon, but this will probably vary with different tea leaves. The lid/saucer fits well on the lid of my cup, which is a large Campbell's Soup Mug, and provides the tea infuser a place to rest after brewing. Packaging says that the infuser and lid/saucer is microwave and dishwasher safe. I love it and it's so easy to use just fill it and dip it, like a commercial tea bag. There is a little tea debris that comes through the holes, but it's mostly dust in my case. Now I can buy more green tea from the Japanese market and I can save money, since I don't have to buy a tea pot.

I was extremely excited to receive this item, because of the unique design. I was not overly impressed though, because the tea fell through the holes in the infuser. Maybe I'm using the wrong kind of tea, but once I dipped the infuser into my hot water, I had loose tea floating around in my mug. Lots and lots of it. Like I said, maybe I was using it wrong, but I will not be ordering anything else from Trudeau, and I'm also having to order another infuser, this time less cutesy, more get-the-job-done type.

I was soooooo excited to get this infuser. It is absolutely adorable. It does not flavor the tea a "rubber" flavor as another reviewer described. I got orange and it's a nice muted color - not obnoxious at all. I love that it comes with the lid so you can cover it while it's steeping and then use it to rest the infuser on. Great overall design.HOWEVER, and this is a BIG however, I have a large range of loose leaf teas and this does NOT work with small leaves. I used it this morning with a tea I hadn't tried yet and all the contents came spilling out of the holes! So now I'm limited with what I can use this with. It's not really their fault. If the product is made of silicon, then the holes can only be so small. With finer leaf teas, you really need a mesh-type infuser to make sure the leaves stay put. I would absolutely ADORE this product if the strawberry part were made of mesh metal and the REST were silicon. You'd have a perfect product then. I gave it four stars because it works just as it should, it's adorable, fits perfectly in a drawer and looks cute just sitting on the counter. I took off one star just for the fact that small leaves seep through...I just won't use it for those. |
