I have had my Trudeau Stress Less Safety Can Opener for a few weeks. I have opened tuna cans, bean cans and large #10 tomato cans with it.
The Good: The overall design is excellent. It looks great, cleans up well and folds nicely to fit in my small drawer.
The bad: It is more difficult than it should be to attach the opener to the can. I always have to fumble with it to get it started. Once on the can it is more difficult to turn than I expected it to be, especially with the #10 tomato cans.
In short: With a little design tweaking to make it easier to attach to the can and, perhaps, a sturdier mechanism, this would get a five star rating from me.

Learning to use it is a little bit of a challenge at first, but once you get the hang of it---wow! One of the two BEST things about it is that it opens the can in a way that creates a re-usable lid, so if you don't use up the whole can you can put the lid back on top of it and stick it in the fridge. How cool is that!? No more messing with plastic wrap or aluminum foil. And the other best thing is that there are no more sharp, jagged lid edges for you to cut your fingers on. That being said, sometimes one has to go around the can twice to get it open, but I love this can opener so much I bought a second one for my vacation home.

The first time I used this can opener, something seemed wrong--couldn't hear a puncture or cutting sound, and no discernable friction as the unit quietly made its way around the can top. I inspected all the parts of the unit--maybe there was a piece missing...
I tilted the can to check for a puncture point, and then noticed that it was slowly leaking-down the sides, not from the top! The lid came off cleanly, with a perfectly cut thin line along the outside of the can top. I realized later that there's a little nib on the side of the opener that grabs and lifts the lid for you so you don't have to touch it. No sharp edges on the inside, no can lid sinking into the can, no dirty or rusty blades and gears making contact with the food.
I couldn't believe it, so I opened another can, this time a smaller can of hot peppers. Perfect. Effortless.
I've seen another review here that claims the opener has trouble with large sized cans. So far, not problem for me, but if I do encounter something similar I'll do a rewrite here.
The Trudeau folds neatly and stores easily, simple to clean and less likely to be gunked up with food deposits as well. It feels solid and well made.
Best of all, this can opener doesn't care whether you're right or lefty. Great design.

Great Can opener
This can opener is safe and easy to operate - no more sharp edges! Don't feel like you have to have weak hands to need this opener. It's great in it's own right.

Works for me!
I have arthritis in both of my thumbs, this makes it hard to use scissors or can openers. This can opener is easy to use and does a great job. Read more
