5.0 out of 5 stars True Balance: A Common Sense Guide for Renewing Your Spirit
You don't have to understand the mysteries of modern mechanics to know when your car needs a tune up. Likewise, you don't have to be a mideastern guru to know you are not in "True Balance", or to learn from this book.

If you ask yourself why do you feel "blah" more often than not, or why you can't seem to focus, or why you say, "Yes",...

You don't have to understand the mysteries of modern mechanics to know when your car needs a tune up. Likewise, you don't have to be a mideastern guru to know you are not in "True Balance", or to learn from this book.

If you ask yourself why do you feel "blah" more often than not, or why you can't seem to focus, or why you say, "Yes", when you want to say, "No", or why life seems to be such an uphill battle, this book is for you. Finally, here is a book that really is a "Common Sense Guide for Renewing Your Spirit".

If you read "True Balance" with the intent of at least giving it a try, you can not help but align your energy centers. You don't have to understand how it works. Just be assured that it will.

Sonia Choquette takes you through explanations, examples, and experiences which will help you develope a solid foundation, vitality, the sovereignty of knowing who you are and that you belong, an open loving heart, and the ability to express yourself. You will begin to truly see the world around you in all its complexities and open your crown chakra to the peace and guidance of your Creator.

She does not tell you what you SHOULD feel. She gives you steps that, if followed, will allow you TO FEEL. If you are even slightly "out of kilter", this book is the guide which will give you "True Balance" and the joy and peace which naturally follow.

5.0 out of 5 stars True Balance is Truly Sensational!, May 6, 2000
This review is from: True Balance: A Commonsense Guide for Renewing Your Spirit (Paperback)
True Balance is Truly Sensational!

This book is a must read for anyone on a personal journey of growth or for anyone trying to stay balanced in our fast paced lives. The book focuses on balancing the seven chakras. Even though the term chakra is used, the book is very much written in our modern day western language.

For those individuals who closely follow the chakras and use Eastern philosophy techniques such as yoga, etc. I believe the book speaks one to one with these individuals. The chakras are familiar to these individuals and the examples, "to do" lists, etc. are items which I believe can easily be related to.

For those individuals who are unfamiliar with chakras and simply want to balance there lives amongst the incredible number and velocity of items spinning in our lives, the book also speaks to them one on one because of the basic tools that are used to help balance the energy centers. Even if people don't necessarily believe in the chakras, the book is totally for them. There are questions, check lists and to do lists through out the book. They are simple, easy to understand and will likely result in people looking at there body, mind and spirit in new exciting ways. Some of the to do things include taking epsom salt baths, using essential oils, rubbing Vick's Vapor Rub on your feet followed with a good pair of socks put on your feet before going to bed.

Again the author's wisdom and warmth shows as pen was put to paper, resulting in this book. The week of this book release, I had the wonderful experience of attending a 2 1/2 hour overview of the book, hosted by Sonia and her assistants. It was an incredible first class experience. Again I believe the book is a must read and if you ever get the opportunity to attend one of Sonia's workshops, do it because I guarantee your life will be forever changed!

4.0 out of 5 stars Really four and a half stars..., July 28, 2003

This is a fantastic book, both for those who are conscious of their chakras and for those who are unfamiliar with energy work. Choquette lays everything out in a simple, gentle, yet very thorough way that is a pleasure to read and absorb. She writes as if she is a kind friend, speaking with each person individually. If you are looking for a more serious, in-depth work, I recommend Caroline Myss' "Anatomy of the Spirit". If you want to learn more about the chakra system, how it affects you, and how you can effect positive change and achieve more spiritual balance without getting a degree in theology or spirituality, then this is an excellent book.

4.0 out of 5 stars Great book with tons of ways to balance oneself, February 22, 2003
This review is from: True Balance: A Commonsense Guide for Renewing Your Spirit (Paperback)
The first thing that caught my eye about this book was the title. True balance-I had lost my balance literally a year back and every since then have been plagued by leg problems.
This book helped me realize I had been missing the warning signs of an unbalanced first chakra. I could probably have prevented my injury if I hadn't been so mule headed and had had this book earlier. Sonia's tips and suggestions on how to get in touch with my first chakra are easy things to do, there's nothing so hard that I can't incorporate it into every day living. The check list on each chakra really can help tell where one stands on each chakra. Thanks to her book I've spotted a problem with my throat chakra (the chakra center that deals with speaking and communication) before it became a big problem like my root chakra (heck, I quess I'm learning!). This is a neat book with tons of ways to balance each chakra and her Psychic Pathway book is just as good.

5.0 out of 5 stars Super guide to the Chakras!, September 8, 2003

I was looking for an easy to ready book on the chakras and came across this one. This one really demystified it all for me - very to the point, easy to understand. There is one chapter on each chakra and in each chapter there is a discussion of what the chakra representes, a question section to see how balanced that particular chakra is for you, and exercises to either reinforce or rebalance that particular chakra. Nice booklist at the end too.

5.0 out of 5 stars At Last, A Realistic Self-Help Book, June 24, 2000
This review is from: True Balance: A Commonsense Guide for Renewing Your Spirit (Paperback)
I concur with the previous two reviews of this book. I am an avid reader of New-Age, or alternative health books as well as a bodyworker/healer. This is a practical endeavor for anyone who may or may not be clueless to its contents because it is written from the author's personal experience first. She has done her work and comes from a place in her heart that transcends the oftentimes "woo-woo" jargon that can litter these types of publications. This is one of those books that you can delve into with no resistance to having to look at your shadow because she uses real life people to demonstrate the change you can make and the advice and guidance is approachable. Even if you are very familiar with the subject matter of this book it is a unique and valuable tool. If you can use its contents to take responsibility for your healing you can certainly ingest Carolyn Myss next. Being in our bodies is key to living our truth and this is a great source to discovering what embodiment means. This book instills compassion for why people act the way they do. The author has included an excellent resource guide at the back of the book.

Sonia does a fantastic job of distilling the essences of chakra energy in a simple, down-to-earth way that can be put into practice almost immediately. Oher books that I have read have made our spiritual anatomy seem so complex to the point of being incomprehensible and certainly not practical. I've also ordered the audio cassette version and have listened to it many times.

Sonia is an amazing healer, and with this book, her techniques to balance yourself energetically are like receiving an energy work session. Easily the best book on chakras I have ever read. Her down-to-earth, humorous style gives you a clear, in-depth understanding of how the chakras affect your life on all levels. Combining these tools with daily meditative opening and cleansing of the chakras, I feel fantastic. Best of all, Sonia's loving energy reaches through this book and somehow touches your heart. Thank you, Sonia, for sharing this gift with us!

3.0 out of 5 stars Choquette is obviously a brilliant psychic, though she is too Pollyanna, April 29, 2006
This review is from: True Balance: A Commonsense Guide for Renewing Your Spirit (Paperback)
Choquette is obviously a brilliant psychic, though she is too Pollyanna-like.
She doesn't really understand her audience. She grew up in a 6th sensory home and seemed to have had a very nurturing family life growing up.

Although I can understand the truth and worth of what she says, she will have a hard time getting through to intelligent people, who are in my opinion, the ones who need to most help getting to their hearts.

She seems to not understand how trauma and abuse impact people. If you have had something traumamic in your life Choquette's advice may actually hurt you because you may not be able to trust how you feel. Emotions and energy can be much more complicated than Choquette describes.
