Get the "Deluxe Version",

This review is from: True Blood: Music From The HBO Original Series Volume 2 (Audio CD)
A great album, but the track from Headbone is only on the Deluxe edition. Both have the same cover artwork, and I mistakenly purchased the standard version, to my huge disappointment.
However, the deluxe edition does contain explicit lyrics, so if you're shopping for a kid...wait, you let your kids watch True Blood? Never mind, swearing isn't your biggest problem.

if you're a trubie like so many of us are ...then you'll buy most anything that comes along that has even the slightest hint of 'blood.' I have volume 1 - wasn't in love with it. volume 2 is so much better! It has another excellent bluesy song by jace... and many other great tracks. point being, i'm very happy to be listening to it right now as i type this review :)=

Raw and Primal,
By Kevin L. Nenstiel "omnivore" (Kearney, Nebraska) - See all my reviews (VINE VOICE) (TOP 500 REVIEWER) (REAL NAME)
This review is from: True Blood: Music From The HBO Original Series Volume 2 (Audio CD)
Like the show it supports, this music lets out a throaty, organic wail that doesn't let go. It runs from blues and early rock (Screamin' Jay Hawkins and some Willie Dixon covers) to alternative country (Chuck Prophet and Buddy & Julie Miller) to progressive electronic rock (Beck and King Britt) without the slightest hiccup. It punches you in the gut, drags you through the swamp, and wakes you with a hard splash of warm bayou water.
Just like True Blood, this album taps primal emotions, core fears, and the desire to cut loose and run wild. Its guitar-driven instrumentals and shouting vocals tap a part of our souls which society would silence. If you ever feel too cheerful, too weak, or too distant from your raw roots in the primeval soup, this CD will fill your bill. But be warned: it's muscular and unrefined, and once it gets its hooks in, it won't let go easily.
