AWESOME!!!!,
By Tom K. (Madison, WI USA) - See all my reviews
This review is from: True Blue: Police Stories by Those Who Have Lived Them (Hardcover)
As a law enforcement student I read as many of these types of books as possible. "TRUE BLUE" is by far the best... I couldn't put it down! The stories in the book are mesmerizing and because they are true and written by "real" cops makes this book a great read for anybody who wants to know the reality of police work and the dedication put forth in this profession. And as a double bonus..I found out that the proceeds from the sale of the book go to New York City 9-11 survivors fund. BUY THIS BOOK!!!

Thank you to all who took the time to share with us the true, happy, sad, fearful and amazing lives of a police officer. I would have never realized the powerful jobs that each of you carry trying to protect us, everyday. Special thanks to Ray Majeski, Sitka, AK, for signing my book for my daughter Hillary--the first one that he signed. Seems he still touching the lives of others, even when he is no longer a police officer. Mary

The author has put together an excellent collection of true police short stories from around the country. By my count there are 55 different contributors included. Most of the stories are just several pages in length so that makes for quick reading. As might be expected the quality of the writers is somewhat uneven. Frequently there are quite dramatic events being recounted that certainly maintain the readers attention. All in all--quite an interesting read.

An Imaginative and Informative Collection of Stories!,

This review is from: True Blue: Police Stories by Those Who Have Lived Them (Hardcover)
I love true crime and cop stories, and this book is one of the best ones I've read in many years. The author lets the cops tell their stories in their own words, and with all the quirks and nuances that make them unique as individuals. The story about the G.I. Joe doll really touched my heart, and renewed my faith in good cops. Most cops want to do their job with care and kindness, and this book shows the best and brightest of our generation. The good guys and gals are still out there, serving and protecting. God bless America's police officers, these men and women should be honored for their part in making the US a great place to live and work.

An honor to read, and be brought inside the blue line. The best Police stories book because it was written by the cops themselves not told to others to be written. A true look deep behind the thin blue line. An even higher calling that all sales go to NYPD and PAPD charity.. A must read.

Heartbreaking and real,

If you're a fan of true crime, this book is by far the best investment so far this year. Some of those true crime books are all about the mind of the criminals but this one gets right into the hearts of the men and women who protect us every day. It's gut-wrenching, funny, scary, touching and I loved every page. A nice companion to David Race Bannon's "Race Against Evil," a book about how one American worked for Interpol across the world and kept his sanity and his soul. This book is about American law officers in the U.S. and their own experiences. I loved it.

Worth the read!,

An excellent "story" book for law enforcement officers, their families, their friends, and the general public! My family includes several generations and types of cops, including a husband who retired as a sergeant after 25 years of service and a son who is now a young patrol officer making his own way and earning his own memories.... I am blessed to count many friends within the LEO community where I served alongside them during my own career. I grew up with them, lived with them, and worked with them. I have always known that cops were human.

Randy Sutton has done a superlative job of putting together the best collection of police stories I have ever seen. He touches the soul of the law enforcement officer from the mundane to the terrifying and heart rending, with each story standing alone as a classic--and a tribute to all who have worn the badge. Some of the shortest are the most touching, and behind the solid image that all cops are asked to maintain, one gets to hear the emotions they keep to themselves because no one wants to hear them. This is not a collection for those greedy for blazing gun battles and wild chases, though there are a few, as there should be, and they are painful to read--the horror of survival is not like television, brushing off the dust and "back to work."
These are stories by men and women who work a world of darkness and strive to find, in it all, a little humor, a little humanity, a little something to hang on to. My hat is off to all who contributed to this book--I know it wasn't easy. This is the book I suggest cops hold onto and leave for those after them to read. They'll understand. So... This is an amazing book that allows you to reach down deep into the minds and souls of the police officers. Just like Sutton's "A Cops Life" I found this book to be amazing. It also has a section dedicated to the officers of 9/11. Sure we have all heard about 9/11 but have you heard true behind the scenes, in the hearts and minds of a police officer who responded that horrible day and survives?

Best Read Ever,

This could be the best book I have ever read. Ok, I don't read much for enjoyment, I read mostly for knowledge, but I really enjoyed this book. While reading this book I experienced and (almost) expressed every emotion. I laughed, I cried (on the inside), and I got angry. If you want to know what it's like to be a police officer, I mean the real nitty gritty, or if you already know what it's like and want some stories to share at "choir practice," you should read this book.
