1.0 out of 5 stars boring
This is probably one of the most boring SVJH books I've read. Luckily there's the Lacey bit which made it less boring. I dunno why I even bought this book!

A Kid's Review
This review is from: True Blue (Sweet Valley Jr. High(TM)) (Paperback)
True Blue is one of my FAVORITE SVJH books! In this book Blue Spiccoli gets anew social worker, who decides to check up on him since his grades are like TOTALLY AWFUL! So Blue joins practiclly every SVJH club IN THE SCHOOL to make-up for his bad grades. At the same time he is TOTALLY annoying Liz for being super cautious while she's starting to mellow out! Also... Bethel knows a SECRET about Lacey and it's making her miserable! Will Bethel tell to WHOLE SCHOOL? Read and find out in TRUE BLUE. C-ya

5.0 out of 5 stars A must read for all SVJH fans!, July 8, 2000

I absolutely LOVED this book and think you will, too. Blue wasintroduced in the last book, but this tells a lot about him. Blue is a"mellow" type that lives with his bro, Leaf, but they just recently got a new social worker, and she didn't like the way Blue handled schoolwork. So, since Blue has to straighten up, he acts different and makes Elizabeth mad, but it comes out great at the end. Sorry, I won't tell any more, you have to buy the book, but I strongly recommend it to any of you!

5.0 out of 5 stars good book!, November 7, 2000
This review is from: True Blue (Sweet Valley Jr. High(TM)) (Paperback)
SVJH is one of my favorite series and this is another great book in it. In this book we get to know Blue Spiccoli, one of those slacker-type people, who decides to shape up FAST when he heard that their social worker is coming by to check up on him. Blue and his older brother Leaf (funky names!) are orphans and Leaf is Blue's legal guardian. He makes video games for a living and is also the coach of the unpopular SVJH volleyball team, which Elizabeth joins. Because of that Blue and his friends get to know Elizabeth (and Blue develops an interest in Liz). They hang out at the Spiccoli house for pizza and to test video games---basically to have fun. For a while Blue and Elizabeth rub off on each other and Liz forgets to do her homework and comes home late without permission. Blue starts joining every club in school he can to show the social worker that yes, Leaf takes care of him just fine. Towards the end Blue and Liz have a heated argument about the other being too uptight or too slack, but they make up soon after, and consider each other good friends. It is also in this book where the school carnival Kristin Seltzer has planned for so long finally happens. There are things going on with Kristin and her boyfriend, Brian, and Bethel finds out a little something about Lacey, but that I'll let you read about. :)

4.0 out of 5 stars Good, November 15, 2004
The back of this book doesn't explain the story very well. This book is about Blue, and his laid back life. A messy house, bad grades, lazy speech, and a tattooed, just-as-lazy brother as his legal guardian. So, what happens when a social services worker complains about Blue's grades, and plans to make a surprise visit? And as if that isn't enough to make this book interesting, the carnival plans are continued and ended in this book, so everyone anxious to find out how the carnival turns out should read this book!

I love the Sweet Valley Junior High books, and am extremely disappointed to find out that the author ended the series. The story is neat because of the friendship, romance, drama, and the way that the story is told from each character's point of view. This book does contain content for slightly older kids, though.

If you like Babysitters' Club books, have read other Sweet Valley Junior High books and enjoyed them, like good books, or want an easy but entertaining read, I recommend this series to you!

BLUE SPICCOLI. EVERYONE SAYS HE HAS THE PERFECT LIFE, BUT DOES HE REALLY? BOTH HIS PARENTS ARE DEAD, AND HE LIVES ON THE BEACH, WITH HIS OLDER BROTHER. BLUE HAS TO ADMIT HE HAS THE BERNASASITIES. THAT IS UNTIL THE SURPRISE CALL FROM THE SOCIAL WORKER COMES. SOMEHOW THEY FOUND OUT ABOUT BLUE'S SLIPPING GRADES, AND WANT TO COME AND CHECK UP ON HIM. BLUE HAS TO WORK TO KEEP UP HIS GRADES. THAT MEANS NO MORE LATE NIGHT PARTIES, AND DEFINATELY NO MORE "MELLOWING" OUT. ALL THE UPTIGHTNESS LEADS TO YELLING, AND GETTING IN A FIGHT WITH THE GIRL OF HIS DREAMS ELIZABETH WAKEFIELD. BUT BLUE HAS TO DO SOMETHING OR ELSE HE'S GOING TO BE PUT IN A FOSTER HOME, INSTEAD OF LIVING WITH HIS LEGAL GUARDIAN HIS BRO. WHAT WILL HAPPEN TO BLUE? WILL HE BE SENT TO LIVE WITH A FOSTER HOME OR WITH HIS BIG BROTHER? FIND OUT IN TRUE BLUE!

4.0 out of 5 stars Why is Blue's world suddenly looking soblue?, September 2, 2000
This review is from: True Blue (Sweet Valley Jr. High(TM)) (Paperback)
Elizabeth can't figure it out when her new friend, Blue Spiccoli, starts acting so uptight and out of character? Since when did he start caring about keeping the house neat and doing homework on Friday nights? And when he blows up at HER, that's IT. Or is it? And Blue can't seem to tell Liz why he's not himself right now... that it's all because the social worker's coming and he needs to straighten himself up FAST. And so what if he doens't get to surf right now? Getting involved in clubs is way more important. I like the scene in math club with Ronald Rheece and everything. That was funny! I don't really like Blue (the way he talks or 'thinks' I guess gets pretty annoying. But I think he's better for Liz then Sal! Meanwhile, Kristin is totally frazzled with getting everything ready for the carnival (which finally occurs in this book) and Brian is being so annoying! She NEEDS him and he spends all his time with his new, cool, beach friends. Some boyfriend. Then something happens to Lacey and Bethel finds out... and the thing is, Lacey needs Bethel's help. But can she really ask Bethel with something so... well personal? It'd be just like Bethel to tell the whole school and ruin Lacey's life... so why hasn't Bethel said anything?

5.0 out of 5 stars Great like all the other SVJH books!, August 22, 2000
A Kid's Review
This review is from: True Blue (Sweet Valley Jr. High(TM)) (Paperback)
This book is about a new guy named Blue. He goes to SVJH and lives with his brother Leaf. In the last book, Elizabeth tryed out for the volleyball team and Blue was there. That's when they met. I really think Blue and Elizabeth are into each other. I liked when Salvador and Liz got together but I think I like Blue and Elizabeth better. I just started reading the book so I can't really tell u much more. It's a great book so far though.

5.0 out of 5 stars A, like, totally amazing read for just a "surfer bum!", June 15, 2000
By A Customer
This review is from: True Blue (Sweet Valley Jr. High(TM)) (Paperback)
If you've read the others, you'd be like, "majorly bummed out" if you don't read this one! This book's much like when Salvador met Liz, except from a "mellow" point of view. But Blue and Leaf have other problems, like their new social worker who could take Blue away. So Blue decides to drown himself into the perfect "all-around good guy" which is like a major change, from making it to half of his classes and surfing during Algebra, to showing up for Algebra AND the Math Club!
