my favorite 6fu cd,
By ribcage (Lantana, Florida United States) - See all my reviews

Six Feet Under is pretty much a collection of some high points an awful lot of boring points, and some really low points. This CD has most of my personal favorite high points. Impulse To Disembowel, The Day the Dead Walked, It Never Dies, The Murderers, Knife Gun Axe, Sick and Twisted. The other songs aren't so much boring or bad as just not any of the songs I just mentioned. One Bullet Left(featuring Ice-T) is totally hilarious. People whine about a rapper in a death metal song. I don't. I figure Chris Barnes smokes too much pot to know any better, and he did it moderately well.
To me, this album seems a lot different than their others. A lot deeper. I like that.

Totally Violent Angry Death Metal!!!,
By A Customer
This review is from: True Carnage (Dig) (Audio CD)
Everything is there....the Chunky Slow Death Riffs, The evil growls and screams, the fist pumping drum beats. I must say that this album is better than Maximum Violence. Chris Barnes's vocals make you want to choke someone until they are blue in the face! These guys are the masters of simplicity. The music is not very technical but is played so intense and fierce that you cant help but get into it. Every track is good on this one. There is even a song with Ice-T in it! Beware...This album is not for the weak hearted!

True Carnage?,

This review is from: True Carnage (Dig) (Audio CD)
I am disapointed with this album especially Six Feet Under's "Maximum Carnage". True Carnage gets off to a pretty good start. "Impulse To Disembowel" the opening track is very good and very heavy. It's sounds like their guitarist borrowed Zakk Wylde of the band "Black Label Society"'s guitar squeals, but the song is still good and heavy. "The Day The Dead Walked" is a full on thrash fest as thei drummer goes all out with pummeling blast beats. "It Never Dies" probably has some of the fanciest guitar work that you will on "True Carnage", but when compared to their peers "Cannibal Corpse" Six Feet Under just prove that this is no more than typical kiddie carnage. Six Feet Under are a very good band if you are looking for a death metal band that is very fun to listen to, but as far as the music Six Feet Under are not a good band by any means of stretch of the imagination as their music pretty simple, but they have really improved as far as musicians since their debut album "Haunted". Don't let their musicianship fool you, because Six Feet Under are no Limp Bizkit. The solos for the songs on this album fit very well with the music, but this is what I thought was really disapointing about "True Carnage". The song "One Bullet Left" features Ice-T. What kind of death metal band writes songs about smoking pot and features rap artist in their songs? I don't know, but wether you want to listen to Six Feet Under or not you decide.

Six Feet Under - "True Carnage":,
By Matt Green (Flint, MI USA) - See all my reviews
This review is from: True Carnage (Dig) (Audio CD)
Opening Comments: No Comment.01."IMPULSE TO DISEMBOWEL" - I can only find one problem with this track and that is the fact that the way song begins almost resembles skipping. However, if you look at it with a positive outlook then you will realize what Six Feet Under was attempting with the immediate start of the very first track of "True Carnage" was to merely allow the listener to understand that SFU has returned and that musically, lyrically and last but not least and yet most importantly vocally at their prime. This is easily my favorite track from the entire Album, the lyrics are very reminiscent of Chris Barnes old school detailed and horrific lyrics and vocals. The Music however is very entertaining, heavy, dark and most importantly, impressive. I can still remember hearing only seconds of this song and being solid sold, sold so hard in fact that it caused me to dig through the garbage in order to scrounge up enough money to purchase the Album. Thank god for Chris Barnes. 02."THE DAY THE DEAD WALKED" - After viewing the music video for this track, I was immediately forced to choose "The Day The Dead Walked" as my second favorite tune from "True Carnage". Six Feet Under was obviously receiving streaks of brilliance during the writing and recording of this Album, sick lyrics, killer riffs, nothing less than impressive shredding guitar solos and an absolutely amazing and simultaneously entertaining and gorey music video. Welcome back guys!. 03."IT NEVER DIES" - Immensely versatile vocals, horrific lyrics, thrashing guitar riffs that remind me alot of Nevermore which is far from a negative element. The vocals in this song are incredible, one thing Chris Barnes has always been capable of pretty much since the Cannibal Corpse release of "The Bleeding" is the fact that he witholds the ability to inflict fear on listeners, pardon me while I grasp a tight hold of my Britney Spears blankey. 04."THE MURDERERS" - I just cannot seem to get over the fact that Chris Barnes has 100% fully returned to his vocal roots, that reason alone is enough for this Album's purchase but don't take it from me, please pick this disc up and see for yourself. This track is very heavy and immensely entertaining and I personally believe that this tune brilliantly showcases new SFU guitarist Steve Swanson's amazing musical abilities. 05."WAITING FOR DECAY" - This is indeed the perfect track for headbanging, not that the others aren't but this one really hits the spot. Impressive riffs, pounding drums, skull crushing bass and of course Chris Barnes classic vocals. 06."ONE BULLET LEFT" - Well, considering the fact that Chris Barnes and Ice-T are vocally on the exact same track alone immediately discloses this tune as solid genius. However, I personally believe that Ice-T offered alot to this song, the riffs and the drums are very impressive as well. Ice-T rapping on a Death Metal tune about smackin' your kids up is nothing short of Einsteinic, god bless America. 07."KNIFE, GUN, AXE" - I can remember a good friend of mine informing me of being sold merely by this tracks title. Well, he will indeed be bankrupt when he purchases this Album and gives this tune a listen. What can I say, its just one classic Death Metal brutality fest after the other, Six Feet Under are definately here to stay. The riffs are loaded with djendt and the drums are very precise, long live Brian Slagel. 08."SNAKES" - This song is totally wrong, the lyrics are graphic and sick while the music itself is nothing short of motivation to head bang. I can't state enough positive comments about Six Feet Under and their Sophomore effort with new guitarist Steve Swanson. 09."SICK AND TWISTED" - This tune reminds me alot of the old Cannibal Corpse song "Covered With Sores", however the vocals are indeed interesting and versatile as well as in no way shape or form anything like Cannibal Corpse. 10."CADAVER MUTILATOR" - Djendt, killer riffs, brutal drumming, pounding bass, intimidating vocals, shred...this track has it all. 11."NECROSOCIETY" - This tune flat out rules, everything in the song rules, not too many big words that I can really use on this one folks, it is indeed a perfect Album closer. Closing Comments: Well, I've personally decided to rate this Album five stars for quite a few reasons. First and foremost, although Six Feet Under have released quite a few previous Albums, I consider "True Carnage" to be their sophomore effort considering the fact that when they released their previous Album "Maximum Violence" they had recorded it pretty much as a new band, with guitarist Steve Swanson replacing Allen West. I can remember reading somewhere that Chris Barnes claimed Six Feet Under doesen't necessarily have thee most technical riffs but that Steve Swanson pulled off the old SFU tunes like he'd been playing them for years, something along those lines. Anywho, as a guitarist I will gladly inform you that alot of the riffs and solos on this Album are immensely impressive, the riffs are heavier than wet carpet while the solos are blindlingly fast and technical. I would like to congradulate SFU for returning with a nothing short of perfect and amazing sophomore effort, if you get a chance please catch Six Feet Under on tour... ...

Six Feet Under's Best To Date,
By Kolors "Jimmy" (Pocatello, Idaho) - See all my reviews

I thought Six Feet Under's previous release "Maximum Violence" was pretty damn good. "True Carnage" proves to be even better. I'm glad to see that Chris Barnes' vocals are now back to the point where we actually need the lyric sheet to understand what he's saying. Alot of the low vocals on this cd have a definate "Tomb of the Mutilated" feel. All of the songs on this cd are note worthy. My favorites include "The Day the Dead Walked", "Impulse to Disembowel", "Snakes", "The Murderers", and "It Never Dies". I figured most people would despise Ice-T's preformance on this album, but like me, most people didn't really mind it all that much. Pick this album up today. It's the most gruesome SFU album yet. Love the album art.

it's finally here! True Carnage! ARRRGHHH! but was it worth the wait? well, to be honest, i thought Maximum Violence couldn't be topped, and i was right. TC has all the trademark gorey lyrics that Chris is infamous for, and his voice has never sounded more vicious..but something is lacking on this one. While its a return to the old hey-day of the underground, the music just sounds a bit tried and dated, or uninspired. Killer artwork and some sick lyrics I haven't seen since Cannibal's Tomb of The Mutilated..still good music, but starting to stale ???

Why do people hate this great band?,
By Pete "RUDESS=God" (The Glass Prison) - See all my reviews

I don't get it. I hear people complaining that "SFU is the worst death metal band ever!" or "They suck ass!". If you want something to bash, bash a Linkin Park album, THEY suck ass. Six Feet Under rules. If you think this band sucks, listen to anything by Lipsuck Park. Now that I got that outta the way, on to the CD. True Carnage is SFU's heaviest and most violent album, even more so than Maximum Violence. Chris Barne's vocals are great as ever, Terry butler has some decent basslines, blast beats curtosy of Greg Gall, and crushing riffs from Steve Swanson. My favorite song hereis "One Bullet Left", which features rap legend Ice-T(!). Other great songs are Impulse to Disembowel, It Never Dies, The Murderers, and Sick and Twisted (featuring Crisis frontwoman Karyn Crisis). All the songs on this album kick ass, but the above mentioned are my favorites. If you liek death metal, you'll like this.
Ratings: 1. Impulse to Disembowel 5/5 2. Day the Dead Walked 5/5 3. It Never Dies 5/5 4. Murderers 5/5 5. Waiting for Decay 4/5 6. One Bullet Left 5/5 7. Knife, Gun, Axe 5/5 8. Snakes 4/5 9. Sick and Twisted 5/5 10. Cadaver Mutilator 5/5 11. Necrosociety 5/5

This is a stoner death metal album!! this cd is about ripping the bong and listeing to some laid back DM. SFU to me have never really been about being technical they just play what they like..

Well to start off i have read the reviews other people have given this album, one thing i agree someone said is that chris barnes vokills were heavy and more aggressive when he was in Cannibal Corpse but i have to say this album he takes no prisoners. I may not care for the Ice-T appearance on this album but all and all it is the most twisted album they have ever made. You may like it you may hate it but i truely think some metalheads that review these albums should be more open-minded. Just remember that brutality is brought through simplicity!!!

Worst Death Metal Ever!,
By Desperate Existence (Hell) - See all my reviews
This review is from: True Carnage (Dig) (Audio CD)
Wow, Chris Barnes has become a joke. I truely thought that after the dissaster called 'The Bleeding' Chis would have thought about changing back into what he used to be, a metal ledgend. It is really sad what he has become. If you want real metal listen to Nile, Necrodeath, Broken Hope, Baphomet, Suffocation, Death, Dying Fetus, Imaped, Imapled Nazerean, or anything like that. Not this bull...
