Wonderful romance and intense drama,

I very unique story that is beautifully written. I started this novel one afternoon and couldn't put it down until finished. It is a real page turner and the words flow as you become engrossed in the characters lives. Excellent secondary characters bring the story to life. I totally agree with Dyamond's revirew below.
I can't wait to read the sequel "Many Roads to Travel' when it is re-released in 2006. this is from the publishers website and it appears it will be re-issued in 2006 TJ Meridian, crippled in an attack on her and her brother, returns to Meridianville, Texas, a small town that her father all but destroyed ten years ago when he closed his ranch and meatpacking plant. Intending to right the wrongs, TJ, with the help of two friends, proposes to bring prosperity back to the area by restocking the ranch and modernizing the packing plant. When TJ's prized horse becomes ill, a local veterinarian is called to treat the animal. The vet, Dr. Mare Gillespie, has lived in Meridianville for the past ten years and has seen the poverty caused by Thomas Meridian's withdrawal from the area. Like most of the native residents, she harbors a great dislike for the family, yet she and TJ are each intrigued by the other woman and a relationship develops. Together they discover love and friendship that endures through personal misunderstandings, a night attack on the ranch, and an ecological disaster that could destroy the town and surrounding lands. Culminating in a life-threatening accident that requires some hard decisions, True Colours is the exploration of hope and love and one woman's struggle to clear her name.

You'll have to buy the sequel,

My only complaint with this book is that it's obviously the lead in to a sequel. Well, the title does say Book 1, but I wish authors wouldn't use this ploy to sell more books. This story is strong enough to stand on its own. The characters are engrossing, especially TJ Meridian. How many novels do you read where the heroine starts out paralyzed? It's a very reaffirming story though to believe that you can find love even if you suffer from a terrible handicap. I think too many unknown relatives are popping up just to provide a story line, but the story itself is engaging. You'll like this book, but you'll have to be prepared to buy the sequel when it comes out to get the end of the story.

Knowing Your Self,
By Phyllis Smith (USA) - See all my reviews
This review is from: True Colours (Paperback)
I found that the author's pulled you into the story from the very first chapter. The main characters are flawed people dealing with their everyday lives. This story shows that each person is indeed unique and that you should not judge others based on what your family is known for. The ending was not complete to me. I am hoping the reason for this is that another book is in the works. These characters can continue to keep me reading about them in other books. I would recommend this book to anyone who wants to see love transform another human being into a happy person despite the difficulties.

Personally I like this book because it is very well written and it is easy to read. The story is pretty intrested and the characters are great. In this book you can also find informations about life of a handicapped person who's name is TJ. Her struggle with daily activity, her good and bad days, about her pain and dreams. She has great friends who make everything they can to make her happy and when her new friend and lover cames they all become family and care for TJ together. It is a great story for those who have to deal with any kind of situations in life. I recommend this book and the other part too.

Strong Love!,

This review is from: True Colours (Paperback)
I really enoyed this book. It is full of love, determination, loyalty, and hope. True Colours is a book full of strong women that face many adversities and some are faced with struggles that they will never be able to overcome. TJ Meridian is a woman that is battling not only a town that is sure she is like her father (S.O.B Meridian) but her own demons. TJ struggles with tragedies that have made her the woman she is today. She is a miserable and very unhappy woman until she has a run in with the fiesty vet, DR. Mare Gillespie. After Mare gives TJ a piece of her mind, it turns TJ's world upside down! Mare is a very driven woman and the only vet within the town's 50 miles. Love is not on her mind when she meets TJ. As we all know, life is subject to change with a blink of an eye. Erin Scott and her partner Paula Tanner are the other amazing women in this heart warming story. Erin and Paula are TJ's best friends and caregivers. They really look after TJ and help with her business affairs. Even when TJ is not the nicest person in the world, they are always right by her side. Friends through thick and thin! All of the chracters are likeable and real. If you are looking for a good romance...this is your book! True love and soulmates no matter what!

Uniquely refreshing,

I've read Nann Dunne before, but the collaboration with Karen Surtees has turned out a uniquely refreshing outlook on relationships.
It was interesting to see the dynamics between TJ Meridian, Mare Gillespie and the folks living in Meridian, TX. How hate can turn to trust? How confrontation can turn into love? How friends stick together no matter what? Refreshing read with many eye openers on how life should be. I've already ordered my copy of "Many Roads to Travel. |
