I have been a big fan of Rachel Gibson and have thoroughly enjoyed all her books. With True Confessions, Ms. Gibson again demonstrates her fabulous talent for entertaining the reader with laughs as well as steamy love scenes. Her talent allows you to read and feel like the characters are real. It's definitely a one night read. Hope Spencer arrives in little Gospel, Idaho, in order to try to rejuvenate a slump in her magazine writing career, (if tabloids can really be categorized as magazines!!!). The town's hunk of a sheriff, Dylan Taber, a single father to seven year old son, Adam, is intrigued by the newcomer, and the attraction starts to become mutual. Throw in a number of local citizens, with their bizarre lifes and stories, a Hollywood actress, along with a stalking professional wrestling midget and the book because a hillarious and steamy roller coaster ride of pure reading fun. Rachel Gibson ranks among my favorite authors of Susan Elizabeth Phillips, Susan Howard and Julie Garwood. Don't deny yourself the pleasure of a great book, go out and buy it today, you won't be disappointed!

Rachel Gibson is now pretty much an auto-buy for me. I've enjoyed the three books I've read so far and look forward to "Truly, Madly Yours" and "It Must be Love". Heck I'll probably even read "Lola Carlyle" though it doesn't look as good and hasn't gotten as positive reviews as her other books.

Single dad, town sheriff and sought after hunk Dylan Taber figures trouble has arrived in tiny Gospel, Idaho when a gorgeous woman driving a porsche with "MZBHAVN" California vanity plates pulls into town. What's a sophisticated city girl like her doing out here in the wilderness? Though suspicious of her, he's also intrigued and attracted. But he's got his son to consider and seriously guards his privacy. But is it because news travels so fast in a small town or is there something more to it?

Hope Spencer writes (i.e., makes up) stories of alien abductions and bigfoot sightings for a tabloid. After some unpleasantness with one of the few subjects she based on a real person results in stalking and a restraining order, her boss sends her to the boonies to lay low for six months. She's not really interested in mixing with the locals (and keeps her occupation to herself), but several encounters with the sexy sheriff Taber bring her out of her self-imposed exile.

As Hope and Dylan flirt, she also opens up enough to befriend her neighbor Shelly - her first female friend in a long time. And Dylan's son Adam is also surprisingly enjoyable to be around. As things heat up between them, Hope wonders if she could ever make a life here in a town with no movie theater or even a 7-11. But it also seems like Dylan is ashamed of their relationship, not wanting anyone to find out about them. Hope's not going to be anyone's dirty little secret, but when a famous TV actress Hope once crossed paths with in LA also seems to be mixed up in Dylan's life, both will have a lot of `splaining to do!

Hope and Dylan are a fun and sexy couple with lots of chemistry. Dylan is especially appealing if you like the confident, sexy cowboy type. A recommended read!

Tabloid reporter Hope Spencer has fled to the mountains of Idaho for a little R&R after being stalked by one of her subjects. She wants to keep her identity a secret, but finds herself attracted to Dylan, the sexy town sheriff who seems just as attracted, but is keeping secrets of his own. As she enjoys her days spending time with Dylan and his son Adam, her reporters instincts kick in when she discovers that Dylan shares a past with an infamous actress who Hope has crossed paths with, and finds herself having to make a decision between love and the advancement of her career. Which will she choose?

Set in Truly, Idaho, Gibson's fictional town populated with eclectic and endearing citizens, this is one of her shining moments as a novelist, as plot, character development, romance, and humor collide to make a near-perfect story.

TRUE CONFESSIONS is a very different style than the first Rachel Gibson I read - TRULY, MADLY YOURS - and it is also somewhat different in style from SEE JANE SCORE. From what I have seen so far, Ms. Gibson changes everything for each of her books - SHE doesn't churn them out by formula. On the one hand, that means that you get a different read each time, but on the other hand, that also means that one might be more to your style than another. Luckily for me, I enjoyed TRUE CONFESSIONS very much, and I enjoyed the others that I read (so far) as well. This one was a more lighthearted read, but that doesn't mean that it's not a good book, or even that it's not as good as the others. Just different, and if you can adjust yourself for a different style, then you can enjoy this one as well.

The plot is fairly basic - career woman comes to small town to recuperate from "writer's block" - presumably to *rest* and get her creative juices flowing. She meets the town sheriff - who, by coincidence, of course, is also fabulous, handsome - and single. Did I mention that she's thin and beautiful?

This is a plot that's been done to death, and frankly, I generally find it kind of boring (what's romantic and unusual about "gorgeous model meets really handsome sheriff?"), but it's the way it's written that earns every one of the five stars I rated it. Ms. Gibson seems to be able to do any style of writing well, and here, where the book is meant to be lighthearted and funny, it is *really* lighthearted, funny, and enjoyable! The dialogue is fabulous, the dialogue alone is worth five stars, but the story and the characters, are definitely well done as well. Absolutely recommended for anyone looking for a really fun read!

I've been a big fan of Rachel Gibson's books for the past few years, and I must say that with True Confessions she's done it again. It's a terrific book, and I completely recommend that you buy it. (In fact, buy all of her books-- money well spent.) Several of my favorite authors have churned out some disappointing reads lately, but not Ms. Gibson!
In this novel, Gibson once again takes us back to small town Idaho (see Truly, Madly, Yours). Hometown boy Dylan Tabor is now back in town after experiencing life in the big city. Hope Spencer is a big city girl experiencing small town life for the first time, but she likes what she sees-- especially in Dylan. Their love story is definitely fun, populated with lots of what my Southern mother would call "characters." I couldn't put it down! As soon as I recover from my sleep deprivation, I think I'll read it again.

This is a truly delightful read! Take your average california blonde, with sleek wheels, and manicured nails and dump them on Survivor (or Idaho in this case) and toss in a sexy, fiesty sheriff with an image to maintain and it's a romance bound to have you in giggles before your halfway through it. Hope, our tabloid writer, can be rude or sweet and you never know which to expect but it doesn't stop you from liking her. Dylan, has a big secret from the world and he really doesn't want it exposed so how will he react when he finds out that he's literally been sleeping with the tabloids???
From page to page of these two's doomed relationship, your bound to find yourself grinning at least a few times! A fun, light read and presented with that certain Gibson flair that makes reading her books such a pleasure!

I am confessed Rachel Gibson fan since the moment I read TRULY MADLY YOURS a couple of years ago. She knows how to write about the area I know well, since I live next door to Idaho, the land of Anything Goes in a Small Town. Small town gossip, interesting characters, beautiful countrysides, along with the feeling that anything outside your local area is a foreign country.

TRUE CONFESSIONS is funny and witty, just like TRULY MADLY YOURS was. The characters hop and flow through the story very well. Dylan Taber is the sheriff of Gospel Idaho and the father of a small boy. Hope Spencer is a big city girl who breezes into town with the idea of getting away from it all after some stressful situations. They both have secrets from one another.The beginning of each chapter were headlines from tabloids...very excellent touch, since the heroine was a journalist for one of those tabloids. Her ability to look at a person or situation and make it a tabloid story gave me insight in how they look at people differently and bend the truth a little.
My only complaint is the story seemed to drag along at first. But it picked up and built steam, right up to the finish. I wish that the hero and heroine hadn't spent so much time seeming to circle around one another. You knew they had the hots for one another and the reason for not having a relationship did not seem plausible to me. I also wish that Adam's mother was in the story more. Despite her vain and selfish character, she was a hoot. The other characters, from the neighbors across the road to the wrestling midget were one laugh after another. But overall, it was an good story that had me chuckling and wondering what would happen next.
For a book that gives you a laugh and a good romance, pick this one up.

Hope Spencer, a tabloid writer from California romps into the town of Gospel, Idaho, with plans to spend 6 months getting her brain cells properly aligned in order to create the stories she's known for. The minute her "to die" for body slithers out of her silver Porsche, she's creating a lot more then she bargained for. The attention she generates spans lusty stares and futile fantasies from the men and more then a few wistful looks and nasty jealousy from the women. Some of the shenanigans that dog Hope are just plain hilarious.

Enter the town Sheriff, Dylan Taber....one of those tall, dark and 'good enough to eat with a spoon' uniformed hunks that make most women smile at just the sound of his voice. However, he has avoided having a relationships with any of the local women since his wife left him and their son Adam. He's a great dad that wouldn't dream of taking a woman home with less then honorable intentions because of his son. However, the effect Hope has on his nerve endings is enough to bring him out of his monk like existence and leave him with ideas that definitely are not honorable where she's concerned! The two of them send off enough sparks to light up the whole town of Gospel.

Ms. Gibson, as always injects plenty of laughs, believable characters and breath-holding, lip-biting, steamy [...] in a wonderful tale. The wait for each new books she writes can seem like an eternity, but all four have been worth it.

Rachel Gibson has an excellent ability: she can write funny, witty, romantic stories that leave the reader wanting more. This book is an excellent example of that, she combines all of those elements to create a side-splittingly funny, romantic, and touching story.

Hope Spencer is a woman on the run. She's running from herself, her writer's block,and a certain midget wrestler who won't stop harrasing her. She ends up in Gospel, Idaho a small town populated with very unique (read weird) individuals. Hope is hoping to get inspired and find ideas for her articles. She writes very creative stories( alien abductions, leprechauns etc) for a tabloid and she has recently suffered from a bad case of writer's block. Gospel proves to be very inspirational not only for Hope the writer but also for Hope the woman.
The town's sheriff is Dylan Taber a handsome cowboy and single father of a seven year old boy.He's immediately attracted to Hope and lets her know it . She, on the other hand, in totally unable to resist him and is hurt when Dylan refuses to take things further after one hot, scorching kiss. Dylan is crazy about Hope and can't think of anything else but for this ... single father his son comes first. The sheriff is hiding a big secret and he's afraid of the way it will affect his son if it's discovered. He feels that the fact that Hope is a writer makes her enemy number one. Dylan, however, isn't the only one with a secret. Hope has one as well and if it's discovered it could tear them apart.

This book is a fun read and I loved Hope and Dylan's characters. However, I had two small quibbles with the book. I felt Adam's character was not fully developed and his relationship with Hope left largely unexplored. Gibson had shown a special talent in writing children and adult-child relationships in Simply Irresistible and I was hoping to see more of that. Also there's a story line about the old sheriff and the way he died that felt as if it was going somewhere and then suddenly flatlined. These like I said are very small issues and in no way affected my enjoyment of this book. Recommended. :)

This was a steamy romance set in a small Idaho town where everyone knows everybody's business. Hope Spencer comes to Gospel Idaho to get a new lease on her writing career and escape one of the subjects of a previous article series. She meets Sheriff Dylan Taber, the only hot eligible bachelor in town. He is not looking for a relationship as he is caring for his 7 year old son as a single father and wants to set a good example. Hope finds herself caught up in the colorful characters of the town and is able to extrapolate on their real life experiences and create alien fictional stories for "The Weekly News of the Universe" tabloid. She also finds herself getting back into life, healing from her previous divorce from a plastic surgeon in Los Angeles who left her for her best friend.

Both Hope and Dylan have secrets from each other that threaten their future happiness. But over time they build on the depth of their love and find it difficult to be away from each other.
