2.0 out of 5 stars True Lies of a Drama Queen
Elle is just your average fake psychic who has achieved a modicum of fame thanks to a lucky, intuitive break or two. Then, she gets a most unlucky one. Perverts film her in a dressing room, posting the video on a website, and she launches a one woman quest to take them down. That's only one of her problems. Her neighbors don't like her, her best friend is getting married...

4.0 out of 5 stars wild chick lit caper, May 31, 2006
This review is from: True Lies Of A Drama Queen (Red Dress Ink Novels) (Paperback)
In Santa Barbara Intuitive Counselor (some would say phony phone psychic) Elle Medina is stunned when some diabolically clever depraved predators film her stripping in a dressing room; she is the current rage on the Internet. Outraged she plans her style of vengeance on these miscreants, but is unaware of whom the cameraman is, but does have a nagging suspicion as to the identity of the pervert.

Elle is more concerned that her best friend Maya is getting married to the right guy, but in the wedding gown from hell. She needs to take charge of the nuptials though she and Maya disagree on everything. Her own love life is okay as Merrick is a fine young man, but she worries that he is in Manhattan seeking a glamour queen and that he will learn she lies about graduate school and her profession even as she considers sharing an abode with him. What is a psychic who cannot see present and future and is unable to learn from her past mistakes do? She starts with eluding her houseguest, the groom's sexy sibling and keeping away from the wedding Rabbi who wants her, but after that who knows because as everyone knows, nobody could truly predict the future.

As with her first appearance (see TALES OF A DRAMA QUEEN), Elle's latest tale is all over the place, but ultimately ties together through the wedding. The chick lit story line has the phony psychic in a panic over the Internet strip, the wedding, and her relationship with Merrick as readers follow the latest capers of the flawed screwball Elle.

5.0 out of 5 stars Pure entertainment, October 8, 2006
This review is from: True Lies Of A Drama Queen (Red Dress Ink Novels) (Paperback)
Both of Lee Nichols Drama Queen books are a lot fun. Light and fluffy with a great spacy main character. I love the silly drama, the crazy mishaps and of course the happy endings. The quirkiness of these novels is what makes them so great.

5.0 out of 5 stars Great read! Relatable!, March 9, 2010
This review is from: True Lies Of A Drama Queen (Red Dress Ink Novels) (Paperback)
So I read this book a few years ago during a crazy breakup with my boyfriend of two years. As funny as it sounds, it really helped me to get over it a little faster because it was humorous, random and just totally spazzy lol. While reading, I just pictured how my life was hitting rock bottom and starting from scratch working all the way up to get to where I wanted to be again. So with that being said, I pictured it totally relatable, someone who was so accustomed to living a certain way only to find out that it is over. Yes the book is very...elementary? Meaning the book is so easy to read that a third grader could read it. I don't mean that in any disrespect but this book is just a breeze very simple to read. I liked it and I will read some more of the authors books!

4.0 out of 5 stars Light and breezy, August 11, 2008
This review is from: True Lies Of A Drama Queen (Red Dress Ink Novels) (Paperback)
This book was a really nice break from the usual things I usually read (dark mysteries) and I can't say I've read a lot of so-called 'chick lit' but this was really cool.

It flows pretty quickly and the main character is hilarious. You end up really liking her and she kind of reminds me of Bridget Jones and also some real-life friends of mine who always seem to say/do the wrong thing at the wrong time, but always with a comedic effect (well for everyone around them).

I didn't read the book before one but that was no problem and I'm currently reading her Wednesday Night Witches.

If you want something that's breezy and funny, check this out.

Loved this sequel to Tales of a Drama Queen. I couldn't wait to read this one. Lee Nichols is so easy to read because she makes you laugh and creates likable characters that you want to root for. I wish there were more to these two sequels!
Pick up both copies if you are looking for a good summer book, or a good read while at work! You wont want to put it down, I promise!

5.0 out of 5 stars Great Beach Reading, July 24, 2006
This review is from: True Lies Of A Drama Queen (Red Dress Ink Novels) (Paperback)
I bought this for some light beach reading and absolutely LOVED it. I haven't read the first (store didn't have it) but it didn't matter. Easy to pick up on the plot. I will definitely be getting the first in series.

4.0 out of 5 stars Chick Lit, June 15, 2006

I'm a big fan of Lee Nichols and love the fact that she's based 3 books in Santa Barbara, CA (where I am). I loved this story, which is a sequel to 'Tales of a Drama Queen'. Elle is a funny character and I can relate to her in a lot of ways. However, the thing which got on my nerves was how Goleta kept being put down throughout the book and was portrayed to be some slimey gross place. Since I live in the area, and grew up in Goleta, I know this isn't the case. I'd at least have expected things to be told how they are, even though this is a work of fiction.

Her neighbors don't like her, her best friend is getting married in a nightmare gown, her credit is bad, her boyfriend has more than one reason to be ticked with her, and a freeloader thinks he has more right to her home than she does. Even the positive elements in her life come with barbs. If only she was really psychic and could have seen this coming!

** Meandering realism creates a world that could almost be true. At times, the plot seems to vanish, even. Elle is a frankly flawed heroine, and not everything works out for her. Some things do, and in that, there is hope. **
