Yes this is a handmade product and it doesn't come with attractive packaging material. However, the item is really nice, very original, and an excellent way to reuse a wine barrel. The cheese board still has the wine stains and is always a great conversations piece when I have company over. A very unique way for cheese presentation. I love it and would recommend this product to everyone!

This review is from: True Fabrications Used Wine Oak Barrel Stave Cheese Board (made from recycled and used wine barrels) (Kitchen)
We ordered this as a gift for a wedding. We live near Napa valley and were very excited about it being made out of a used barrel. Unfortunately we were very disappointed with the product.
1) item arrived loose with a bunch of paper in a huge Amazon box. It had no manufacturing box and it wasn't even wrapped in a bag 2) there is no tag or true fabrications paper that comes with this product so if you send it as a gift they won't know what it is - just looks like a curved board with a purple stain. There are also no care instructions. 3) I called the True Fabrications company and they said that because it is a hand made product there is no manufacturing box. 4) we would have still kept it if the the quality was not so poor - specifically the two little base blocks on the bottom that raise the board were clumsily nailed in so that you could see nails between the blocks and the board. the blocks were just random pieces of wood and were not appropriately sized - so one side of the block would be flush with the board while the other side of the block would be half an inch away from the board - in which case you could see the nails connecting them. It looked like a 5 year old took two different shapes of blocks and nailed them with cheap steel nails. We were disappointed and would have been embarrassed to give it as a gift. We really were shocked by the quality especially when you consider that you are paying $50 and the only thing they had to do is nail two pieces to the barrel slab. It still looks very cool and we would love to find a similar product that is nicely made. If you choose to order it as a gift just DO NOT SHIP it directly to the person. Like I said you will need to explain to them what it is!
