I am a bachelor and love to drink wine. Unfortunately before buying the ultra wine saver I had to either drink the whole bottle or settle for shoddy preservation from "the wine pump". The ultra wine saver really words and there is a noticeable difference between the argon sprayer and other preservation products I tried.

Thought it was a little expensive at first but once you break down the costs it isnt too bad per bottle. Also very nice packaging to make a great gift!

A 5-6 second puff from this metered dispenser preserves red wine well at room temperature. The metered flow rate is important, ensuring that you get the same amount of gas from a 5 second puff at the beginning of the cartridge's life and at the end.

One reviewer questioned whether the argon would be dispersed by agitating the bottle. Pure argon is heavier than air and will naturally form a layer at the bottom of the air space when present in large quantities, thus protecting the wine -- not 100% perfectly, but well enough to keep a bottle long enough to drink the rest with minimal degradation in taste.

In my opinion the vacuum pumps actually make the wine taste even worse than simply corking them. The argon gas really does make a difference though - this product makes it very tenable for a single wine drinker to crack open a bottle without feeling obligated to finish it within a three day period. For most wines you can comfortably extend a bottle for a week with argon if other environmental variables are near optimal. You will either save money (throw away less wine) or simply decide to enjoy more wine (less trepidation about wasted wine) with the hummingbird - it's a win.

This is an amazing product. It works much better than the older vacum pump wine saver tools that I have used previously. Using this tool, I've left a bottle of wine sitting on my kitchen counter (unrefrigerated) for up to 5 days with lots of success. I have not tried using this with anyting other than red wine, which was never refrigerated. That said, the price of this item has sky rocketed since Christmas. I believe I paid $30 for mine, and now I see they are selling for almost $45. That might be a tad too high. You can purchase individual cans of the argon gas for under $10. If I didn't already have this gadget, I might choose to go with the cans seeing the new high price.

This works. I forgot a bottle of wine in the fridge for a few weeks, and the wine was simply great. If you are the type who drinks only a glass of wine, I highly recommend the product.
I took one star off because the thread on the gas-cartridge chamber is a bit crooked, but it does work well.

Used this on two bottles, doesn't seem to make a really material difference... seems like it helps a bit, but not really long enough.

The product description says you get 18, 1 inch layer, applications of the argon. I would have to assume that if you agitate the bottle in any way you would disperse the argon and then negate the effect of it. This is unless the argon re-settles to above the wine again.
