A unique jazz musician at his best !!,

It was in France, my first concert, and it was Roy Haynes: I didn't listen to jazz before and went there by curiosity. I never thought it was possible to play drums like this ! I was 18 and these 3 hours of concert has changed my perception of music. That's why this concert recorded in Paris is particular to me. Anyway it's really great, full of joy of playing, spontaneous. Dave Kikosky on piano, an old partner of Roy, is great. The playlist is very good, with a lot of standards of people with which Roy has played: Bird, Monk, Corea, Rollins, etc. The sound is a bit rough. There are 3 bonus comparing to the original LP.A musthave if you love SWING !!

Cool LIVE Cd!,

A great live Cd by drummer giant Roy Haynes. Roy Haynes's very active and his different approach to drumming comes out very well - hard swinging and with a lot of joy and very spontaneous. The band sounds great thru the whole Cd, good solos. You will hear that those guys had a lot of fun doing that gig - and it will make you happy too! |
