Ideas Without Substance,
By
This review is from: True Green Home: 100 Inspirational Ideas for Creating a Green Environment at Home (True Green (National Geographic)) (Paperback)
This book has no depth. Don't let the size fool you it is less than 25% text per page and 75%+ of pictures that look nice but add no value to the book. Each item is a concept (ex. "save water"), a picture that is related to the concept (ex. a faucet running water), brief blurb with some statistics (ex. the average home uses over 100,000 gallons of water a year), and a suggestion with no further details (ex. look into a rain water collection system). I think the authors spent more time and effort on pictures than content. What this book needs is the type of project, the benefits of doing the project, the cost, and an example of an implementation. For bonus points, an analysis of the pros and cons of different solutions to the same problem would have been nice too.

I am truly enjoying the True Green Home book. It is compact and filled with wonderful, but practical ideas for greening your home. It is also the perfect size to drop in your bag when you travel and read on the train, bus or plane.
