Review
Emily Jean Bartlett is a New York novelist. Her dream is to someday write the most celebrated romantic novel of all time, but at the moment she writes popular dime novels. She has never visited the Wild West or been around real cowboys, but she writes about them in her books. Unfortunately, her publisher is going under and Emily's job is threatened. In an attempt to save the company, she proposes a series of books about the legendary cowboy Jess Murdock. The cowboy is notorious for his adventures and Emily thinks his story could be just the thing to turn Wise Publishing around. After months of trying to contact Mr. Murdock, Emily learns he has left the Wild West show he was working with. That doesn't deter her from her plan. She intends to go to Mr. Murdock's home in True Love, Montana and convince him that she is the woman who should write his life story. She's hoping to have a few adventures of her own along the way. Emily quickly discovers that Jess Murdock is more than a legend- he's a handsome, fascinating man. Jess Murdock doesn't like the limelight and has no interest in becoming as famous as Bill Cody. He has his cattle ranch and his young son Zach to take care of. Jess wants to send Emily back to New York but she makes a proposition he can't refuse. The cowboy and the novelist are as different as night and day and seem like a most unlikely pair, but in the town of True Love, anything is possible. Millie Criswell writes wonderful western historicals and readers will be pleased with her latest tale. It's a pleasure to watch the development of Jess and Emily's romance. The secondary characters are also interesting and fully developed. The ranch setting is familiar, but Ms. Criswell puts her fresh spin on the charming plot for an all-together fun read. Readers will fall in love with True Love! Millie Criswell is a rare talent in historical romance! For heartwarming love stories, nobody does it better than Millie Criswell! Cowboys have never been sexier! Ms. Criswell has written a marvelous romance! Kristina Wright -- Copyright © 1999 Literary Times, Inc. All rights reserved -- From Literary Times
