5.0 out of 5 stars What pop should sound like..., August 24, 2001

...plenty of melody, heaped on top of some great drumming and best of all: no singing! Well, OK a little singing, but its either buried in the background under My Bloody Valentine-style guitars (on "Trudging Through The Freshly Cut Grass") or harmonizing with the organ in a sort of round (on "Shalom"). None of that verse-chrorus-verse ... here! There are a few failed experiments here, but thats what skip buttons are for. Its still one of the most overlooked albums in the past few years.

5.0 out of 5 stars listen to this cd, January 9, 2000

MR. PIERCE AS A SOLO ARTIST IS UNMATCHED IN CREATIVE ENDEAVOR AND RAW EXPRESSION. THE SOUNDS YOU COULD BE HEARING ON THIS CD ARE ALL LIVE TAKES RECORDED WITH MIC'S. THIS CD GIVES MORE MEANING TO THE MINAMALISTS CLAIM OF ELECTRONIC MUSIC'S LAZY PRODUCTION. THIS RECORD IS THE BEST NON-ELECTRONIC ELECTRONIC ALBUM I'VE EVER HEARD. HE CHOOSES HIS TONES AND SOUNDS WITH MORE TASTE THAN IV'E HEARD IN YEARS. SMOOTH MELODIC BASS LINES, AND THE UNBELIEVABLE PERCUSSION IV'E COME TO EXPECT FROM ADAM ARE REASONS ENOUGH TO OWN THIS PIECE OF BUTTER. MUSIC LOVERS OF EVERY KIND; BRIAN WILSON TO KEVIN SHIELDS ARE INVITED. PLEASE TAKE A MOMENT TO WATCH THE PARADE.

5.0 out of 5 stars Landmark album of experimental music, September 27, 1999

This album is amazing. Adam Pierce assembles each song, fairly minimally, yet still builds them up into glorious melodies that haunt you after you listen to them. It is an album to listen to all the way through, although each track holds it's own. There's not much more I can say about it, it's beautiful.

5.0 out of 5 stars Decently massaging and excessively thought reducant, March 18, 1999

I listen to alot of this new electronic expression and I'm beginning to think that we are doomed to stagnate with simple melodies and either simple or slightly complex drum beats.

Literary void as far as lyrics are concerned.
